Process for melting small pieces of metal waste. When melting metal waste, it often happens that the mass of the waste lying in the lower part of the furnace melts, while the higher part of the melting material remains hanging over the melt pool like a bridge and does not melt. This is mainly due to the fact that the waste is filled in relatively large quantities, so that it is difficult for it to fall into the deeper parts of the furnace.
It is therefore necessary to loosen the stuck mass during the melting by means of rods or the like so that it falls into the molten bath located below. This has the disadvantage that a worker is constantly busy loosening the waste in every furnace, which makes melting the waste correspondingly more expensive. In addition, this work is also dangerous because the oil layer adhering to the metal waste is only burned when the waste comes into contact with the weld pool, so that flash flames suddenly shoot up from your furnace .. which can easily burn the worker.
It has already been proposed to avoid this evil state, to loosen the metal waste filled in the furnace by means of a mechanical device, namely by a kind of whisk, the tall waste in the upper layers of the filled in the furnace Me. is lowered or rotated there. With this device, however, no satisfactory result could be achieved because the whisk, which is constantly exposed to the full furnace heat, cakes on the metal waste and either stops, or rotates the whole mass of the waste uniformly without loosening it.
According to the invention, the difficulties mentioned are eliminated in that the metal waste is loosened by means of a loosening device that moves back and forth. During the to-and-fro movement, the loosening element cannot stick together with the metal waste, so that these are certainly loosened and fall into the weld pool.
The arrangement of a loosening element with upward and downward movement is particularly advantageous, since the loosening element is lifted out of the oven and cooled with every movement so that its temperature remains within reasonable limits. <B> '</B> In the Figures shows an example of a guide of a device for performing the method according to the invention.
A rotating frame 2 is arranged next to the melting furnace <B> 1 </B>, which supports the loosening element <B> 3 </B> and a vibrating chute 4. This shaking chute 4 conveys the metal waste continuously in small quantities into the furnace so that it can easily fall into the deeper parts of the furnace and promotes the even melting of the filled metal waste. This type of loading has the further advantage that the oil layer adhering to the waste burns during the falling of the loose waste, so that the temperature of the upper part of the stove is through it is still increased.
As a result of the even combustion of the oil, the formation of flashes is avoided.
The loosening member is attached to a frame <B> 6 </B> by means of a <B> 5 </B> adjustable support <B> 5 </B>, which is attached by means of arms <B> 7 </B> is suspended pendulum on the frame 2. Your loosening organ is given an upward and downward movement by the thumb disk <B> 8 </B>, which is driven by gears <B> 9, 10, </B> <B> 11 </B> by the motor 12 so that its head <B> 13 </B> at its end continuously pushes into the mass of metal waste in the furnace and thereby loosens it.
Depending on the location of the metal waste in the furnace, the loosening device can BEZW. his support can be set higher or lower within the framework of <B> 6 </B>. The head of the loosening organ is designed in such a way that it tapers evenly upwards so that it does not throw the metal scraps above it out of the furnace when it moves upwards.
The shaking chute 4 is attached to the frame 2 so that it can pivot about two pins 14 and is secured by means of the arm <B> 15 </B> the thumb disk <B> 16 </B> and the gear wheels <B> 10, 11 </ B > Driven by the) motor 12. The shafts <B> 17, </B> <B> 18 </B> of the thumb disks <B> 8 </B> and <B> 16 </B> are in ball bearings <B> 19 </B> and 20 stored in order to achieve the easiest possible gait.
Since there are always several ovens next to each other in large companies, the frame of the loosening device and the shaking slide can be rotatably arranged so that two ovens can be operated by the same device.
