Process for the production of an acid dyeing wool dye of the anthraquinone series. It has been found that: that the diazo compounds of 1-amino-2-anthraquinone: n-sulfonic acids which are suitably substituted in the d-position are converted into new products on treatment with primary or secondary bases, which are valuable , acidic coloring substances, represent oil dyes, and can in some cases also be used as intermediate products for the production of new dyes.
The reaction proceeds with vigorous evolution of nitrogen, see above. that it can be assumed that in the end products there are essentially compounds in which the diazo radical is replaced by the base radical. In the process, diazo-amino bodies appear to be formed as intermediates, which then condense further in the further course of the reaction with evolution of nitrogen.
If such derivatives are used. Der 1-Amino-anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid, in which the amino group is occupied by an easily exchangeable group, such as halogen or nitro group. this way, the base residue can also take its place at the same time, and you get more deeply dyed products that dye wool in olive green to black tones. The reaction is: favored by the addition of metal catalysts, such as copper and its salts, while without their addition the reaction in some cases leads to blue-colored products.
The process can be carried out in such a way that the diazo compound is used; in .die excess base enters, the reaction takes place with strong self-heating. In order to moderate this, it is often expedient to add an inert solvent such as benzene or nitrobenzene. The reaction can also be carried out in the presence of water by using the diazo compound in the form of its moist paste and bringing it into reaction with the base.
If primary aromatic bases and their substitution products are used, particularly valuable dyes are obtained which, although they are probably mixtures of dyes, are not only characterized by their other good properties, but also by their excellent ability to gelatinize.
The present patent now relates to a process for the production of an acidic wool dye of the anthraquinone series, characterized in that the diazo compound of 1-amine-4-bromo-z @ nthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid is mixed with aniline in Brings reaction.
The new dye obtained in this way is a black powder which is readily soluble in water. The solution in concentrated sulfuric acid is slightly colored and turns an intense blue when paraformaldehyde is added. The dyeings on wool give a neutral gray to black and are characterized by very good fastness properties.
The addition of metal catalysts is advantageous in the preparation of the dye.
Example 1: The air-dry diazo compound obtained from 14 k7 1-amino-4-bromo-anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid is carried within about .from 0 to -f- 5. 1 / J hour under good cooling in 30 grams of aniline, to which 0.1 kg of natural copper C is added. With a strong evolution of nitrogen and a strong warming, the reaction mass turns dark brown. To end the reaction, the temperature is allowed to rise to .30 and is kept at this temperature for some time.
The excess aniline is then removed by steam distillation after the addition of alkali. The resulting dye is precipitated from the blackish solution by adding sodium chloride.
Example 2: In 40 kg of aniline, 0.1 kg of natural copper C and 15 kg of a water-moist paste that contains 9 kg of dry 1-diazo-4-bronio-anthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid are first added entered. The temperature is initially kept at 15 to 20 by cooling from the outside, and then increased to about 25 to 30 until the evolution of nitrogen has ended. The dye is worked up in the manner described in the above example.
The properties of the dye correspond to those obtained from Example 1. Example 3: 70 kg of a paste, which corresponds to 39.3 kg of dry 1 - diazo - 4 - bromo-amthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid, are made into a paste with -1110 liters of water and with a solution of 11 , 2 kg of aniline in 40 kg of 50% acetic acid are added.
After stirring for 4-5 hours at 30 to 35, the dia.zoamino compound initially formed is filtered off and again slurried with 500 liters of water. 15 kg of aniline, a solution of 1 kg of copper vitriol in water and finally a solution of 15 kg of calcined soda in 150 liters of water are run in successively at 20. With strong foaming, the reaction mass quickly turns dark with self-heating.
The reaction is brought to completion by briefly heating to 70 to 80. The dye can be isolated after the excess aniline has been distilled off by means of steam and the remaining dye solution is filtered by salting out. The dye obtained is identical to that described in .dem In game 1..
When used; other acid-binding agents such as lye. Bicarbon.at, sodium acetate, ammonia, analogous products are obtained depending on the choice of conditions, which have a slightly redder or greener shade than the dye obtained according to Example 1 with otherwise the same properties.
