Description
Process for the preparation of a stable, medically active salt of p-aminophenylstibic acid. The subject of the present patent is a process for the production of a new, long-lasting, medically active salt of p-amino: phenylätibinic acid, characterized by that p-aminophenylstibinic acid is treated with hexahydropyrazine.
Example: The p-aminophenylstibic acid obtained from 1.50 gor p-acetylaminophenylstibic acid by saponification in the known manner (, is shaken while still moist with water and the amount of hexahydropyrazine required for solution. The solution is filtered, precipitated by pouring into acetone and the precipitate is dried in a desiccator.
A slightly colored powder is obtained. which dissolves into a long-lasting solution in water even after prolonged storage. If the solution is mixed with caustic soda and: heated, the odor of hexahydropyrazine appears -, the very dilute solution turns yellow when dilute hydrochloric acid and hydrogen sulfide are added. If this mixture is heated, sulfur antimony is split off. The powder decomposes. when heated without melting.
The new salt is intended to be used for therapeutic purposes. It has proven particularly useful in the treatment of kala-azar.
