Device for elastic fixing of a cover disc of a vehicle wheel. The spoked or spoke wheels of vehicles, in particular automobiles, are often covered, for aesthetic and cleanliness reasons, with a disc which makes the outer surface of the hub and the rim continuous. The means for fixing the wheel to the drive member, brake drum or false hub are generally used to fix this disc; as a result, in order to detach the cover disc, these means must be disassembled, which entails long and arduous work.
In addition, as the disc is generally made of thin aluminum sheet, in the long run it no longer adheres to the rim and allows dust, water and mud to pass through, which is precisely what we want. would avoid; in addition, the continuous shaking gives rise to noise.
The object of the present invention is to eliminate these two drawbacks by providing for the disc an attachment independent of that of the wheel, and elastic, which allows easy and rapid disassembly of the disc, and ensures the adhesion of the disc to the wheel. rim of the wheel at all times.
The device for resilient fixing of a covering disc of a vehicle wheel is characterized by at least one support fixed to one of the parts which rotate with the wheel, at the free end of the latter and independently of its fixing means, said support receiving the cover disc and carrying elastic means which exert pressure against said disc.
The appended drawing represents, by way of examples, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows an axial half-section and a side half-view of the first ap plied to a hub cover; Fig. 2 the watch from the front; Fig. 3 is an axial half-section and a side half-view of the second applied to a wheel of the Rudge type; Fig. 4 is a front view. In fig. 1, 1 designates the octagonal cover cap of a hub covering the end of the drive shaft 2 of a wheel and screwed onto the false hub.
A pivot 3 passing through said hub cover has at one of its ends a head 31 of sufficient thickness to be held between the hub cover and the end of the shaft 2, this pivot has at its other end a hole for a pin 8. A wheel cover disc 4 is threaded onto this pivot; against this disc there is a washer 5 to distribute the pressure of a spring 6 over a large area; the latter rests on a cap 7, retained on the pivot 3 by the pin 8 which engages in a circular cavity 71 of the cap; to detach the disc 4, it suffices to exert pressure on the cap 7 and to release the pin 8; all the elements of the device can then be released.
To put it back in place, these elements are threaded again, the cap is pressed and the pin 8 is inserted which is housed in the cavity 71.
In fig. 3 and 4, 11 designates a ring screwed onto the false hub 21 and holding the wheel. This ring has two ears which carry a cover disc for the wheel 4. A pivot 3 is screwed into each ear; a covering disc 4 having two holes is threaded on the two pivots, and a washer 5, also having two holes, is applied to the disc. A spring G is then threaded on each pivot, which presses against the washer, resting on a cap 7, threaded onto the pivots through two holes; this cap has circular cavities 71 for two pins 8. The operation is similar to that described for 1a_ fig. 1.
To remove the disc 4, press the cap 7 and remove the pins 8; after which we remove all the elements. To replace the disc, we proceed in reverse order.
