Description
Process for the treatment of raw, semi-finished and finished products made of materials with a crystalline structure, in particular metals and metal alloys, for the purpose of influencing their structure and their properties. It is known that when raw, semi-finished and finished products, in particular metal products, are exposed to mechanical forces for the purpose of shaping, certain properties (mechanical, physical, etc.) are deliberately or unintentionally changed at the same time. It is also known that these changes can be reversed or changed by exposing the substances to a heat or cold treatment by annealing, tempering, quenching, etc. It can also be done by annealing, tempering, quenching, etc.
alone, without prior processing, other properties can be achieved in substances.
The aim of the present method is to achieve all of these effects, which were previously achieved, for example, by heat or cold treatment, better and more economically by exposing the body or substances of crystalline structure to be treated to eddy currents generated by high frequency, a frequency of at least 300 periods being applied.
The process can be applied simultaneously or retrospectively wherever any material with a crystalline structure is shaped or stressed by any kind of energy-intensive processing (melting, pressing, drawing, pressing, rolling, cutting, etc.).
The following is an example: Man; If a brass plate rolls to the limit of its strength, this brass plate is then exposed to the currents, and after a very short time (as experiments show, after about S-0 to GO seconds) it will retain its old mechanical properties a 'and have a very fine grain structure C, so that the rolling process can start again immediately.
It may be useful to let the currents act during the machining process so that the machining process (casting, rolling, pressing, etc.) can be carried out continuously. In contrast to this, however, it is also possible, please include, to reinforce or otherwise change the properties achieved by previous processing by passing the current through.
When machining brass objects using eddy currents, it is possible, while the currents act on the object, to simultaneously let the gases or vacuum prevent oxidation act, so that, for example, a brass plate can be machined and oxide-free To cool down oxide-free, without the cumbersome apparatus previously required for this purpose and without the previously created equipment. large heat losses. The same applies, of course, to all other oxidizing substances. With the appropriate selection of the influencing factors, the new process gives the possibility of being able to manufacture metals and metal alloys in particular stress-free and in some cases corrosion-free.
Since the influence of the currents only has to take place for a short time, it is evident that this process also results in a considerable acceleration in production and thus a considerable reduction in the required quantities in circulation.
