Hochwirksamer Vakuumapparat.
Highly effective vacuum apparatus. In the vacuum apparatus used in practice, the seals of the vacuum vessel are only good at the beginning because they are very sensitive. The difficulty of keeping the Valzuum vessel tight at all times made it necessary to set up powerful pumps that were colored to suck off the false air.
It has therefore already been proposed that in vacuum apparatus the walls of the vacuum vessel should be immersed in paraffin or the like at the point to be sealed so that the sealing joint is completely enclosed by the sealing material after the paraffin has solidified. However, this requires a considerable amount of sealing material.
This disadvantage is to be remedied by the present invention by the fact that between the surfaces of the vacuum vessel to be sealed a slightly melting mass is poured, which seals the better the stronger the external air pressure presses the surfaces to be sealed against one another. In two ways, the vacuum apparatus has a cooling device surrounding the vacuum vessel in order to condense the vapors on the cooled inner wall of the apparatus in the same space in which the evaporation takes place.
The drawing shows a Ausführungsbei game of the apparatus according to the invention. The apparatus shown has a bell A as a vacuum vessel, which is provided with a cooling jacket a and which rests on the channel B filled with paraffin. The tiller B will be through the fixed base C. D is a hot water radiator, on whose flat connecting ducts d the racks are placed.
The heating element D is heated by the heating vessel E "which is connected to the equalizing vessel F. H is the suction pipe and G is a receiver to which the suction pump is connected.
Before pouring out the channel with paraffin, the bell is held at a small distance above it and here the channel is only filled with molten paraffin until it touches the lower sealing surface of the bell. As a result, after the paraffin has solidified, in combination with the external air pressure, the greater the vacuum inside the apparatus, the better the seal, and the stronger the surfaces to be sealed are pressed against each other. The seal is absolutely reliable. The pipe surfaces of the bell and the lower part do not need to be sanded.
As a result of the cooling jacket a, the condensation of an evaporated liquid takes place in the same space as the evaporation itself, so the point of condensation is close to the place of evaporation. The vapors therefore do not need to travel long distances, as in the usual distillation and drying apparatus, in which the vapors first; be discharged through pipes and precipitated in a special cooling system.
So no pressure is lost through line resistance. For example, if you have a heating temperature of 40 (corresponding to a water vapor tension of 5: 1.9 mm) and if you condense at 15 (NV water vapor tension 12.7 mm), you have a useful voltage difference of 42.2 mm. If, however, pressure is lost due to pipe resistances, the usable voltage gradient is reduced by this amount with constant heating and cooling temperatures.
The condensed water vapors trickle down the cooling wall into the storage vessel without any effort due to the weight. Once the vacuum has been established, the pump can be switched off and the distillation process continues automatically in the vacuum.
In cases where there is a risk that the paraffin seal will melt, cooling pipes can be used in the channel h inside or outside the Glochenwä.ade. Instead of causing the condensation through the inner wall itself, cooling tubes could be provided for this purpose in the nern of the apparatus near the inner wall.
There. With this vacuum apparatus, neither an insulation jacket is required on the bell, nor a device for pushing the vapors into a special cooling system, so it brings about a significant simplification compared to the known constructions.
