Toggle press for embossing stereotype matrices. In presses for embossing stereotypical matrices, the movable pressing surface has been given a stroke that considerably exceeds the thickness of the support material for the form. In most cases, thick layers were used. A relatively large stroke of the pressing surface does not only mean a loss of time, which is a considerable disadvantage in the newspaper industry, but also proves to be disadvantageous in the broader sense that the toggle levers describe a considerable angular movement at the extremely high pressure and consequently greater wear from friction in the knee.
In contrast, according to the invention, the movable pressing surface should have a short stroke not exceeding 14 mm; so that the knee levers describe a limited movement. This reduces the friction in the knee, but also achieves the further advantage that with the pressure increasing very quickly in the vicinity of the dead center of the toggle lever, the support material and the die have less opportunity to expand laterally, so that better Bunzenprinting is achieved . Such a press is particularly suitable for lead embossing.
. In the drawing, an embossing press built according to the invention is illustrated, for example, namely, FIG. 1 shows a partially sectioned side view and FIG. 2 shows a plan view after removal of the work table and the lower press table.
The rotary motion of the motor a is transmitted by a worm b to the worm wheel r, on the shaft d of which a gear wheel e is attached, which meshes with an intermediate wheel f. With the wheel f, the small gear wheel g turns, which slowly turns the large tooth wheel lt. .
This wheel serves as a crank disk and, through the connecting rod i , moves the toggle levers k, 1, which move the press head up and down in relation to the press table u.
According to the invention, the movement of the press head na is reduced to a minimum. In practical tests, a total stroke of 14 mm with a maximum distance between the pressing surfaces of 39.5 mm, a font height of 23.5 mm and a support thickness of 2.5 mm in the compressed state has proven to be advantageous.
