Beispiel 350 Gewichtsteile 2 - Amino - 5 - acetyl- amino - 4' - oxydiphenylsulf an - 3*- karbonsäure werden bei etwa 40 mit der hinreichenden Menge Ammoniakwasser gelöst;
Process for the preparation of a licensing azo dye. It has been found that new, valuable azo dyes of a licensing character are obtained if such amino derivatives of diphenyl sulfone are used as diazo components for construction

its homologues or substitution products are used,
which in the non-amidated like ortho to one another contain a hydroxyl and a carboxyl group.
Depending on the choice of coupling components, whether they are mono- or polyazo dyes, dyes are obtained in a wide variety of shades. They are suitable both for wool dyeing using the chroming process and, especially because of their good soap and chlorine fastness, for cotton printing. As a result of the external position of the affiliated group, they show the further advantage that the chromed colors differ only slightly from the direct ones in color tone.
The present patent relates to a process for the production of an azo dye which is to be licensed, which is characterized in that the diazo compound of 2-amino-5-acetylamino-4'-ogydiphenylsulfon-3'-carboxylic acid is mixed with 2-methylamino-8-oxy - Naphthalen-6-sulfonic acid coupled in an acidic medium.
EXAMPLE 350 parts by weight of 2 - amino - 5 - acetylamino - 4 '- oxydiphenylsulfan - 3 * - carboxylic acid are dissolved at about 40% with a sufficient amount of ammonia water;
the cooled solution of the ammonium salt is mixed with 69 parts by weight of sodium nitrite and slowly acidified with the necessary amount of 20% hydrochloric acid at about +5 while stirring, the yellowish colored diazo compound precipitating in a nicely crystalline form.
Coupling is carried out weakly Congo-acidic or organic-acidic with 274 parts by weight of the sodium salt of 2-methylamino-8-oxyraphthalene-6-sulfonic acid. After a few hours you work up in the usual way. The new dye is a dark, water soluble powder with a reddish purple color; it dyes wool in an acidic bath with a clear reddish purple. After chrome plating, there is no significant change in color.
The chromium-plated color is very sweat-, light- and carbonization-fast, and it is insensitive to metals.
