Device for lifting the wheels of motor vehicles and others. The present invention relates to a device for lifting the wheels of motor vehicles and others out of contact with the ground.
This device comprises jacks, each adapted to the vicinity of one of the wheels and mechanical means to allow the driver to control these jacks from his seat. This control can be done for example using handwheels or maneuvering levers, by means of cables or similar flexible links and, where appropriate, of force multiplier mechanisms.
The actuators of the jacks are preferably combined in such a way that the two wheels of the same axle are lifted simultaneously.
Preferably, the movable part of each jack is provided, at that of its ends which is called to come to rest on the ground, with a roller mounted on a horizontal axis and the yoke of which is capable of pivoting in turn. 'a -vertical axis. This arrangement gives the car some mobility in all directions when all four wheels are lifted.
The jacks can be constructed in such a way that they are erased by the very fact of their operation by resuming their rest position and that they therefore encumber as little as possible the underside of the frame in this position. For this purpose, it is in particular possible to give the mobile part of the jacks the shape of a rod articulated to the axle or else that of an articulated parallelogram, or even that of a rack rod meshing with a pinion also in taken with a rack on the fixed part of the jack.
Whatever arrangement is adopted, it is advantageous for the mobile part of the jacks to be, as already said, provided with a roller mounted in a yoke articulated on a vertical axis.
There is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, several embodiments of the device of the invention.
Figs. 1 to 5 relate to a first example. FIG. 1 is a side view of one of the rear cries, FIG. 2, the front view of the same jack; Fig. 3 is a schematic plan view of the operating mechanism.
Fig. 4, a schematic elevation view of a force multiplier mechanism, FIG. 5, a general assembly diagram; Fig. 6 shows in profile _a jack with articulated rod to the axle; Fig. 7 is a similar view of an articulated parallelogram jack; Figs. 8 and 9 are side views of a rack jack; Fig. 10 is a section on a larger scale, taken by a horizontal plane 10-10, of FIG. 8; Fig. 11 is a plan view of an accessory.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 5, each of the jacks is constituted by a slide 1, fitted vertically under the tube of the differential 2, by means of a split neck 3. The slide 1 is braced by an oblique arm 4 which joins either end lower than another collar 5, similar to the pi: emier, and tight like him on the tube of the differential. The front wheel jacks are fixed to the corresponding axle in a very similar fashion.
In the slide 1 slides a hollow bar 6, in which slides in turn a rod 61, which is fixed in the desired position, by means of a pin 6 ", engaged in one of the transverse holes distributed over its height. rod 61, carries at its base a yoke 7 mounted freely on it and which receives the roller 8 with a ridged periphery, mounted on a horizontal axis 9.
The bar 6 is pierced, perpendicular to the axis of the car, with a mortise which engages the end of a lever 10, articulated at 10a on the arm 4. A longitudinal slot 1a, made in the wall of the slide 1, allows passage of this lever during its oscillating movements. These are communicated to it by the cable 11, which passes over the return pulley 12, mounted on a shaft that bears bare yoke 13 fixed to the collar 5. The lever 10 is provided with a return spring 14 which tends to return the bar 6 to its highest position, the roller then being raised above the ground.
When traction is exerted on the cable 11, this roller - on the contrary, rests on the ground and lifts, out of contact with the latter, the wheel 15 to which the jack is assigned. (thanks to the adjustable sliding of the rod 61, in the bar 6, the value of the lifting of each wheel can be adapted to the gradient of the ground.
With the control mechanism shown schematically in fig. 3 and 4 and which aims to increase the efforts of the driver, the lifting traction is exerted on the cable 11 by the driver without having to leave his seat.
This mechanism consists of two handwheels 16, 17 wedged on two horizontal concentric shafts 1611, 17 \ I journalled on a housing 18a within reach of the driver's right hand. The shaft 161 carries an angle pinion 19 which meshes with another similar pinion 19a, wedged on a shaft 20 directed vertically.
On the shaft 17 is disposed a right wheel 21 which is connected to a straight wheel equal 22 integral with the shaft 23, journaled in the housing 18 parallel to the shafts 16, 1T </ B> I; the shaft ".3 drives an angle wheel 24, in mesh with a pinion of the same shape 25, integral with the shaft 26 directed in principle parallel to the shaft 20. At their lower end, which reaches the level of the shaft. chassis, the shafts 20, 26 are received in bearings 27, 27a, adapted to one of the side members 28; each of them carries a worm 29, 30.
The first meshes with bare helical wheel 31, the second, with a single identical wheel 32. These wheels are wedged respectively at the end of drums 33, 34 whose axes are received in bearings (not shown) as subject, of on the one hand, to the side member 28, and, on the other hand, to the side member 281, of the subframe. On the drum 33 are wound those cables 11 which correspond to the front jacks, on the drum 34, those of these cables which control the rear jacks.
Both of said cables are guided when necessary, from the winches to the pulleys 12, by pulleys 35 of the same type as the latter and whose yokes are fixed to the side members of the frame or to its crosspieces.
According to fig. 6, the mobile part of the jack is constituted by a rod 36, articulated horizontally at 37 on shot) support 38 fixed to the axle a. At one of its ends, the rod 36 carries the roller 8 mounted in the pivoting yoke 7. A little before this yoke, it is provided with an arm 39 which is attached to the control rod 40 of the jack.
When the latter is at rest, the rod 36 is disposed horizontally, the roller preferably being oriented towards the front of the car. When a traction is exerted on 40, the rod 36 pivots until its roller comes to bear on the ground (position indicated in dotted lines). From this moment, when we continue to pull on 40, the resulting straightening of the rod 36 causes the lifting of the wheel until this rod is oriented vertically, its tail then abutting against the axle .
In the variant of FIG. 7, the yoke of the roller 8 is carried by a part 41, oc cupant the urr of the vertices of the articulated rhombus rrrr. This is formed by bars 42 articulated, on the one hand, on the part 41 or on the support 38, fixed to the axle a and, on the other hand, on side parts 43. These latter are drilled. , parallel to the axis of the car, tapped holes where a screw 44 engages, the two halves of which are threaded at opposite pitches. This screw has a median smooth part which journals between two rings in a part 45 on which are articulated two crossed reinforcing rods 46, each connecting the midpoints of two opposing bars res 42.
At rest, the rhombus formed by the bars 42 has the flattened shape shown in solid lines in FIG. 7. When the screw 44 is turned in the correct direction, by means of a flexible or articulated shaft, the parts 43 come closer together and the roller 8 descends in contact with the ground to then cause the lifting of the wheel (position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 7).
In the following variant (fig. 8 to 10), the body of the jack is formed of two parallel rods 47, 48, with a U, section whose wings face each other. The first is fixed to the axle a, the second is guided in a slide 49 embracing the two rods. At the bottom of the recess of the rods 47 and 48 are fixed racks with which a pinion 50 meshes, mounted at the end of a shaft 5011 which rotates in a boss of the slide 49 and which is controlled by a flexible shaft or a ball joint or cardan shaft. The rod 48 consists of two parts.
The upper part 48 # 1 hinges in 48v on the lower part so as to fall back on the side opposite to the rod 47 when the jack is at rest (fig. 8).
If the pinion then receives a rotational movement in the direction of arrow f ', this pinion rolls on the rack of part 47 and the rack of part 48 rolls on it, hence a relative sliding of these rods, in the direction corresponding to the lowering of the roller 8.
When the top of the lower part 48 reaches the height of the upper edge of the slide 49, the part 48 @, abutting against this edge, straightens up vertically so that it is brought into the extension of part 37 and s' is held there by the smooth neck 49 when the depression of this last part continues. In fig. 9, we have re presented, mounted above the roller 8, a removable horizontal disc 51, the edge folded down, and which allows the jack to act even when the roller 8 sinks into bad soil.
Fig. It shows how this disc can be arranged to make it easy and quick to put on and take off. To this end, it has a notch which offers towards the center of the disc a circular housing for the articulation sleeve of the yoke 7, on which the disc is slid. The notch of the latter is then closed by the sector 51s articulated in 51b.
The steering wheels 16, 17, instead of being installed in the vicinity of the right side member, can be moved across the width of the chassis according to the position occupied by the driver's seat.
