1#erèctionnement aux machines automatiques à outil rotatif déplaçable axialement en mouvement rectiligne alternatif. La présente invention a pour objet un perfectionnement aux machines automatiques à outil rotatif, déplacable axialement en mou vement rectiligne alternatif, caractérisé en ce qu'un arbre portant à une extrémité l'outil d'une première machine est également muni, à l'autre extrémité, d'un second outil consti tuant celui d'une ,seconde machine symétri que de la première, les organes produisant les mouvements de l'arbre porte-outils étant communs aux deux machines;
1 # operation of automatic machines with axially displaceable rotary tool in reciprocating rectilinear motion. The present invention relates to an improvement in automatic machines with a rotary tool, axially displaceable in reciprocating rectilinear motion, characterized in that a shaft carrying at one end the tool of a first machine is also provided, at the other end, of a second tool constituting that of a second machine symmetrical to the first, the members producing the movements of the tool-holder shaft being common to both machines;
and in that cams which produce forward and backward movement of a workpiece carrier assembly in each of the machines are angularly offset with respect to each other, such that the relative retraction stroke of the tool and the workpiece, for one of the machines, corresponds to the travel of relative approach of the tool and the workpiece for the other machine.
There are already automatic machines with a rotating tool that can be moved axially in reciprocating rectilinear motion in which the following various operations take place successively without the intervention of the operator: 1 Feeding of a workpiece, by means of an automatic feeder, in a workpiece holder assembly; 2 Relative approximation of the tool and the workpiece; 3 Execution of the tool's work; - 4 Relative distance between the tool and the machined part; 5 Ejection of the workpiece.
The cycle thus described is repeated until exhaustion of the parts to be machined initially held in a feeder.
The main object of the invention is to increase the efficiency of such machines, by using the period of relative separation between the tool and the workpiece; which, until now, was a time out.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the improvement applied to a machine for tapping nuts.
Fig. 1 is an elevation with parts in section; Fig. 2 is a sectional profile along line II -II of FIG. 1; Fig. 3 is a front view of the feed drum.
The machine described above is fully automatic and does not require handling; during the work, that the bulk load in a hopper of the nuts not tapped and that it makes tapped.
On a suitable tank, preferably mounted on feet and intended to prevent oil and nuts from falling to the ground, is fixed a frame 1 on which are arranged two hoppers 2a and 2b and a tap holder 3. Between the feet of this frame 1 is placed a camshaft 4 which controls the various' organs of the machine.
The hoppers 21, and 211 comprise a frame 5 supporting a shaft 6 which receives a drum 7 surrounded by a circle 8. On the lateral face of the drum 7, facing the frame 5, there are provided bores 9, which receive balls 10 pushed by the springs 11. The shaft 6 is actuated by the pulley 12. Guide rails 13 are arranged below the drum, and end above the nut holder slide 14 controlled by the lever 15 , and subjected to the action of the spring 16 guided by the rod 17.
The hoppers 21, and 2u are arranged one on the right, the other on the left; the nuts are introduced through the orifice 18 located at the upper part of the frame 5. These nuts are collected by the drum 7, which is spaced from the neighboring face of the frame at a distance slightly greater than the thickness of the thread nuts. To achieve this space, shims 19 are interposed between the shaft 6 and the drum 7 fixed to this shaft by the screw 20.
The drum 7, actuated by the shaft 6 and the pulley 12, rotates, and the nuts which are contained therein come between the guide plates 21 and 22, integral with the frame 5, to come to be introduced into the feed slide 13. This engagement is facilitated by the action of the balls 10 supported by the springs 11, which act by friction on the nuts, and give them the suitable position allowing them to be introduced into the slide-guides 13 with the help of the plates 23 which close them at least partially.
The guide rails 13 lead the nuts into an opening 24 formed in the slide 14; this slide is established to prevent the nut from rotating during tapping. As soon as the nut is in place, the lever 15, which is actuated by a cam 25 located on the camshaft 4, pushes the slide 14 with the nut against the tap 26 which engages in the nut and operates its work without the lever 15 continuing its pressure.
As soon as the tap has finished its work and the nut is released again. as explained below, the slide 14 is brought completely back by the spring 16, so that the orifice 24 completely exceeds the closure plate 27 and reaches above the orifice 28, this which allows the ta raudé nut to fall freely into the receiving gutter \ -_ '9. The plate 27, fixed to the frame 5, is intended to prevent the nut from passing through the slide 14, the centering of which is ensured by any appropriate means.
The tap-holder headstock 3 comprises a frame 30, supporting the shaft 32 through the intermediary of the bearings 33. The shaft 32 is dragged by one or the other of the pulleys 34 and 35, which rotate in direction. inverse to each other, and which are combined with a friction pulley 36 wedged on the shaft 32. This latter can be moved in axial translation by the lever 36, actuated by the cams 38, 39.
The tap holder headstock is fixed between the two hoppers; at each end of the shaft 32 are the tap holders 40 and 41. The drive pulleys 34 and 35 are idle on the shaft 32 and slightly conical inside; the friction pulley 36 is on the contrary wedged on the shaft 32. The lever 37 being engaged in the sleeve 42 which is also fixed on the shaft 32, transmits to the latter its translational movement under the action of the lever 37; because of this, the friction pulley 36 comes into contact alternately with one or the other of the drive pulleys 34 and 35 which give the shaft 32 rotational movements, alternately in one direction and in the same direction. 'other.
Thus, when the nut contained in the slide 27 has come into contact with the tap 26, the drive of the shaft 32 occurs by the pulley 35, which corresponds to the direction of rotation desired for the tapping by the tap 26, and the unthreading for tap 44. When the tap 26 has finished its work, the cams 38 and 39 return the shaft 32 to the left, and it is then the pulley 34 which drives the shaft 32, producing thus the tapping for the tap 26, and the tapping for the tap 44.
It will be noted that the driving of the lever 27 takes place by a roller 45, integral with a finger 46 subjected to the elastic actions of the springs 47 and 48. Likewise, the thrust on the lever 15 takes place by the spring 49 instead of to take place positively by cam 25. In this way, no breakage of the tap is to be feared.
