Exhaust pressure brake for power cells. The subject of the present invention is an exhaust pressure brake for motor vehicles, which consists in that in the exhaust pipe of the engine between this and the exhaust pot at least one throttle valve is connected and between the engine and the water valve a branch pipe of the exhaust, which opens into a cylinder, its piston acts on the wheel brakes when the throttle valve is actuated.
In the accompanying drawing, an exemplary embodiment of the subject invention is shown in Fig. 1 for a rear brake look. Fig. 2 forms the continuation of a linkage shown in FIG.
In the drawing, a branch line 4 is provided on the outlet pipe 1 of the exhaust manifold 2 of the cylinder 3, which branches off into a cylinder 6, which is fixed on the frame 5 and is open on the one hand. The piston 7 of this cylinder is connected by a connecting rod 8 to a lever 9 gelager th on the frame, which is connected to a rear brake 13 by rod 10, double angle lever 11 and rod 12. A throttle valve 14, which can be operated from the outside by an arm 15, is built into the outlet pipe 1 of the exhaust immediately after the junction, between this and the muffler (not shown).
A shaft 17 mounted on the splashboard 16 is connected on the one hand by an arm 18 and a rod 19 to the arm 15 and on the other hand by an arm 20 and a rod 21 with a small hand lever 22, which is mounted on a pipe clamp 28 on the handlebar 24 of the Car is swingably mounted. The footsteps for the accelerator 25, for the usual foot brake 26 and the coupling 27 of the motor shaft are only indicated on the spray board 16.
The mode of operation of the device shown is as follows: If the rear wheel is to be braked from the rest position shown, in which no braking takes place, hand lever 22 is swung in the direction of the arrow, which also moves the arm 15 in the direction of the arrow and closes the throttle valve 14 results. The exhaust gases from the engine will now enter the cylinder 3 through pipe 4 and move the piston 7, whereby the brake 13 of the rear wheel through the linkage 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 is attracted. When the throttle valve is reopened and after the pressure is exerted on piston 7, the compression spring 28 of the wheel brake will restore the piston to its original position.
It is in your power to increase the pressure on the piston 7 and thus the braking force to almost the normal pressure in the engine cylinder by stepping on the accelerator foot 25 at the same time as or immediately after the throttle valve is closed operated and more fuel supplied to the cylinders. So the pressure in cylinder 3 can be brought up to several atmospheres.
The brake described replaces the usual foot brake 26 with a brake that is much more effective and easier to operate.
The braking device shown can also be used on other organs than, as shown here, for a rear wheel of a motor vehicle, and instead of a hand lever, other means on the handlebar, which are mounted in the steering wheel itself, for example, could be used to operate the Brake be provided.
Finally, instead of just one throttle valve, two of them could be seen in front of one another, of which the second can be operated as an emergency brake medium by means of rods from inside a cabin car from the passenger and independently from the driver.
