Two-stroke internal combustion engine with slot scavenging. In two-stroke internal combustion engines with an inserted cylinder liner and slot scavenging, the scavenging air slots are arranged in the relatively thin wall of the cylinder liner. The incoming scavenging air does not have sufficient guidance on the narrow slot walls, so that the flow of scavenging air in the cylinder cannot be controlled.
In order to eliminate this problem, according to the invention, guide vanes are arranged in front of the scavenging air inlet slots of the liner, which ensure reliable guidance of the scavenging air and thereby influence the flow path of the scavenging lift in the cylinder in the desired direction.
In the drawing, two exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown in cross section, namely FIG. 1 shows a machine with stationary guide vanes, while FIG. 2 shows one with adjustable guide vanes.
The cylinder liner a has flushing lift inlet slots b which are directed such that their center lines meet at a point c. With the small wall thickness of the liner a, the slit walls do not provide sufficient guidance for the incoming scavenging air. For example, the partial air flow at d has already passed the inner slot edge e before it reaches the outer edge f.
To remedy this situation, vanes y are attached in front of the slots b in the direction of the partial scavenging air flows, which are either cast onto the cylinder jacket, as shown on the right-hand side of the figure, or, as shown on the left-hand side, made of sheet metal exist and are used. 2 also shows guide vanes g made of sheet metal. They can be rotated around a fixed pin h and connected to bolts k of an adjustable ring l through a slot i .
When the ring l is adjusted in one or the other direction of the arrow, the blades g are rotated around the pin h and this changes the angle between them and the cylinder liner, so that the flow of the scavenging air can be regulated and adjusted to the most favorable efficiency can.
