Description
Method of manufacturing electric radiators. In ceramic radiators, the heating wires are pressed into the electrical insulation compound under high pressure. This method is not possible with radiators in the form of hollow bodies, such as tubes and the like, since the filling openings, which are small compared to the total volume, do not allow this.
It has already been proposed to manufacture heating resistors in hollow bodies by compressing the loose insulation mass introduced around the heating wire by subjecting the entire resistance body to a tensile process, reducing the cross section of the whole and expanding its length, but the heat-emitting surface became smaller and rnan could never exactly determine the final length of the heating resistor beforehand.
According to the invention, this deficiency is to be remedied by compressing a loose insulation compound which surrounds the heating conductor in a hollow body by pressing grooves inwards at the front outside. In the accompanying drawing, a heater manufactured by the method is shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, namely Fig. 1 shows the heater before the pressure treatment, and Fig. 2 shows the same body after the pressure treatment.
The heating conductor a is embedded in the insulation material b in the center of the hollow body c. As can be seen from Fig. 2, any number of grooves or grooves from the outside to the inside z in the hollow body c. B. pressed or rolled, whereby the cross-section of the total resistance is reduced and the ceramic insulation is compressed, but the heat-emitting surface of the hollow body is the same and the length of the heating resistor remains unchanged. The shape of the z. B. pressed or rolled grooves. or grooves is arbitrary.
