Description
The known collectors for dynamo machines and motors exist made up of a series of copper segments separated by a thin layer of insulation are separated. The insulation used is, inter alia, that from mica waste through a Shellac solution-bound micanite is used. The manufacture of such collector segments is time-consuming and therefore particularly material-intensive, because a considerable part of the segment consisting of rolled copper, after the one composed of the lamellas Collector box is ready, must be worked out. Then there are still the grooves in the flanges required for connecting the anchor wires the collectors.
For these reasons, there has been no lack of attempts to create the collector segments to press in a known manner from copper powder into the correct shape and then sintering the compact. But none of these efforts could lead to success because it did not succeed in removing the collector surface, which is subject to high wear and tear to provide the necessary resilience. When using increased pressing pressures or when sintering at higher temperatures, the other strength properties were reduced of the segment so bad that efforts are made to apply powder metallurgy Manufacturing processes for this purpose were already considered to have failed.
Extensive investigations have now resulted in the surprising finding, that it is very possible to use powder metallurgical segments for collectors Way to manufacture if you only have a few procedural measures that are simple in terms of manufacture adheres to. It was found that collector segments made of copper powder can be produced by sintering can produce that both the sufficient strength properties as well their running surface have a high wear resistance, provided that the segment pressed in the usual way from copper powder, then at temperatures of about 800 to goo ° C sinters and, according to the invention, the running surface of the after cooling The segment is compacted by cold forming. It is essential that the compression of the segment does not extend to its remaining parts, for example to the Flange or the segment foot, as the material at these points is then too large Adopts brittleness. On the other hand, the compaction is only on the tread made, then the strengths in the remaining cross-sections are quite sufficient, in order to correspond to the known segments made of copper via the melting phase.
In the drawing is the process of making segments for Collectors o. The like. Illustrated schematically in one embodiment, namely Fig. i shows a segment in longitudinal section; Fig. 2 is a plan view of the segment, Fig. 3 is a side view of this.
The collector segment i, which is designed in a known manner, is converted to powder metallurgy Way made by having a copper powder in appropriately designed shapes pressed and the compact is then sintered at temperatures of about 8oo to goo ° will. In order to work hardening of the running surface which now follows according to the invention 2 Having enough material available is essential during the manufacture of the compact the cross-section is reinforced by the amount shown hatched in FIGS. Subsequently, the pressing of the running surface 2 then takes place, with the Judging pressing pressures depending on the consolidation to be achieved and the reduction of the originally consciously reinforced material cross-section to the desired final cross-section.
In Fig. I, the hatched areas show the uncompacted parts of the segment, while the unshaded running surface 2 is compacted by pressing has been.
