A titre d'exemple, on.
Method of manufacturing electric cables with concentric conductors. The present invention -a. for object a method of manufacturing electric cables with concentric conductors, which consists in covering the insulating material surrounding a conductor with an electrolytic deposit forming a conductive layer intended to serve as a conductor,
in covering this conductive layer with an insulating material which in turn will be covered .par electrolytic deposition of a conductive layer serving as a conductor and so on.
The accompanying drawing shows automatically and by way of example an embodiment of a cable obtained by the above manufacturing process.
Fig. 1 shows a cross section of this cable, and da fig. 2 a view in longitudinal section of two shaped cable ends in order to achieve their junction.
To manufacture the cable shown, we begin by covering a conductor 1. With an insulator 2; then it is passed through an appropriate electrolytic bath so as to obtain on the insulator 2 a thin, homogeneous and tenacious conductive layer 3 which constitutes a second conductor. This layer is then in turn green in the same way with a conductive layer 5 which constitutes a third conductor, and so on.
Any number of conductors can thus be produced in a very simple manner. The cable thus obtained is therefore .caractérisé in that it comprises concen tric layers forming 'conductors, separated by layers of insulating material, the central conductor which is solid also acts as a mechanical support for the assembly.
This cable can be established for all purposes and, for this purpose, the thickness of the conductive layers can vary. by allowing the electrolytic bath to act for a longer or shorter time.
The cables obtained by the process in question also have the advantage of being able to be connected by interlocking their ends so that the conductive layers of: one of the cables apply against those of the other on a sufficient surface to ensure good contact. The shape of the interlocking and, consequently, that of the ends can be made in different ways.
As an example, we. , represented in fig. 2 of the ends of cables to be connected so born in steps extending longitudinally.
For one of the cables, the one on the left in the figure, the outer insulation 6 is cut transversely at a suitable distance from the end, then the first conductive layer 5 as well as the insulation 4 that it covers are cut transversely at a suitable distance closer to the end and so on. The end is then in the form shown in FIG. 2,
each -conductive layer having a suitable free surface.
The end of the other cable, on the right in fig. 2 is shaped in the same way, but in the opposite direction, by successively perforating it to diameters slightly greater than those of parts 1, 2 and 4.
By fitting the two cable ends together, one in the other, the central conductors 1 and the come into contact, and the conductive layers Set 3a, 5 and 5a, etc., as well as the insulating layers 2 and 2a, 4 and 4a 6 and 6a, etc., apply to each other.
The junction thus obtained can also be tightened using any suitable means such as. -collar for example .. The conductor 1a can have at its end a tube in which engages and is then welded. the conductor 1.
The junction could also be made in a manner analogous to the previous one by giving the ends of the cables to be connected a conical shape. The cables to be connected could also end in straight sections - which would be pressed against each other.
Finally, instead of shaping the ends themselves of the cables, it is possible to provide the latter with suitable parts comprising conductive parts separated by insulating parts and having the shape required for the intended interlocking.
