Description
Process for the preparation of an agent with a bactericidal and fungicidal effect. If the sulphite cellulose waste liquor, which is present in large quantities as an annoying waste product, is treated with chlorine, a yellow-red precipitate is obtained which, after separation from the liquid, is an excellent disinfectant. The properties of the product can be improved by subsequent treatment with oxidizing agents, such as chlorate hydrochloric acid, etc. It is convenient to do the chlorination like this. to direct that the product has a chlorine content of at least; 10% a owned.
The product obtained is non-toxic and odorless. Its solution in the dilution 1: 100 and 1: 1000 shows a disinfecting effect that is initially equal to that of phenol in intensity, but superior in duration. The product is also suitable for the dressing of seeds, for the preservation of wood, vegetable and animal fibers, hair, feathers, etc. Furthermore, the substance can be mixed with ointments and soaps or by mixing with dressings and inert substances such as clay, Process bolus and the like into compresses, wound litter powder, etc.
In some cases it is advisable to change the disinfecting and healing properties of the agent by mixing it with other disinfecting agents or similar agents. The effectiveness of the disinfectant depends on the reaction of the solution in that the effect is somewhat weaker in an alkaline solution and stronger in an acidic solution. The presence of neutral salts favors the effect.
