Sealing device for 111 machine shafts. The invention relates to a particularly for rapidly rotating machine shafts, for example the shaft of a centrifugal compressor, certain and suitable Dichtungseinrich device. It can be designed so that it works practically smoothly during the run, but also as a result of special training during standstill results in such a reliable, gas-tight seal as is necessary to, for example, in centrifugal compressors compared to the interior filled with the refrigerant vapors to shut off the outside atmosphere.
In the accompanying drawings: Fig. 1 is a front view of a centrifugal compressor in which the subject invention is applied as an embodiment; Fig. 2 is an axial section through the thrust bearing on the right in Fig. 1 and the adjoining parts on a larger scale; Fig. 3 is an axial section through the stuffing box on the left side of Fig. 1, also on a larger scale;
Fig. 4 is an individual representation from Fig. 3 on an even larger scale; Fig. 5 is an individual representation of a labyrinth seal from Fig. 2, also on an even larger scale; Figure 6 is a section along line 6-6 of Figure 3 on the scale of Figure 4;
Fig. 7 shows a variant of the device shown in Fig. 2 for bringing about an axial displacement of the machine shaft when it comes to a standstill.
A designates the housing of any centrifugal compressor, of which an impeller B is indicated in Fig. 2, which sits on the shaft C. This shaft is supported on the one hand in the bearing D (Fig. 2), which is completely sealed off from the outside, and on the other hand in the bearing D '(Fig. 3), from which the shaft extends out of the housing -z1 to the coupling with the prime mover to allow.
The compressor is built in such a way that an axial pressure to the left occurs on its shaft while the machine is running, which the shaft can follow due to a small clearance in the bearings. So that this no significant frictional resistance arises, the following device is met: On the shaft C, a disk 10 is attached, which is an annular shoulder 11 on the pump housing as a stop to limit the axial movement of the shaft opposite. This annular shoulder 11 forms one end wall of a chamber 12 for a barrier liquid, preferably lubricating oil, which is pressed through a channel 13 and a pipe 32, 31 by a pump 29 into the chamber.
The pressure of this liquid acts on the disk 10 and strives to lift it off the shoulder 11 so that the barrier fluid can escape between them into a chamber 1-1, which is the device provided for receiving the axial pressure, in particular the disk 10, encloses. The liquid pressure is just enough to lift the disc 10 so far from the shoulder 11 that an oil cushion is formed, which avoids direct friction between those two parts under the axial pressure of the shaft C.
At the other end of the shaft C, between the bearing D 'and the outlet opening 16 for the shaft, a ring-shaped shut-off chamber 17 is provided in the housing. Within this chamber there is a ring valve 1.8 attached to the shaft C, wel chem the outer end face of the sleeve 19 attached in the housing serves as a seat. This bushing also forms the inner closing wall of the chamber 17. The part of the chamber 17 accommodating the valve 1.8 has an inner diameter only slightly larger than the outer diameter of the valve 18, so that only a narrow annular gap around the valve for the Bulky liquid is present.
The valve can lift a short distance from its seat. This distance is limited by the interaction of the disk 10 with the shoulder 11, while conversely the valve 18 limits the distance up to which the disk 10 can lift off the shoulder 11. This distance is so small that the pressurized fluid always exerts sufficient pressure on the disk 10 to hold it against the shoulder 11 while the machine is running, except for direct contact.
A channel 20 is used to supply the barrier fluid, preferably lubricating oil, to the shut-off chamber 17 on the outer side of the valve, while a channel 20a is used to supply the barrier fluid to the inside of the valve. The channel 20a is @dureh a tube 21 connected to the lower l # ', nde of a container 22 closed at the top, which it also carries. The other channel 20 opens into the upper part of the container 22 by means of a pipe 23.
The channel 20a extends into an annular groove 24 in the sleeve 19, which opens through longitudinal channels or holes in an annular groove 25 compared to your valve 18 and so supplies the barrier fluid to the space between the valve and the sleeve.
The sealing liquid (for example 01) is constantly fed to the shut-off chamber 17 and the pressure chamber 12 (Fig. 2-) in the following way: An oil circulation pump 29 removes the () l from a with a filling gate > 2227 and shut-off valve 28 through the suction nozzle 30 and presses it through the pipe 31 via a valve-15 into the container 22. A branch pipe 32 leads, as described above, from the pipe 31 into the pressure chamber 12.
The 01 funded in the shut-off chamber 1.7 can escape through the space between a sleeve 33 and the shaft C enclosed by it in an annular space 31 and flow out of this space through a pipe 35 to the oil trap 39.
The oil escaping from the pressure chamber 12 under the pressure disc 10 can return through a suitable channel 37 into the oil container 26. The outlet of the oil trap 36 located below is controlled by a float-operated valve 39

The oil pump 29 is driven by the shaft C so that it presses during operation of the compressor 01 from the container 26 into the container 22 and into the pressure chamber 12, from where it returns to the main container 26 in the manner described returns to describe a cycle.
The arrangement of the check valve 45 makes it possible to keep the oil in the container 22 under pressure and to form a compressed air cushion in the space above the oil level. The mouth of the pipe 23 in the container 22 is at such a height that at the normal speed of the oil circulation pump the air cushion is compressed so far that the oil reaches the mouth of the pipe 23 and through the pipe 23 can flow to the outside and through the pipe 21 to the inside of the valve 18.
Here, pressure equalization takes place in the shut-off chamber 17 on both sides of the valve 18, and an oil seal is formed surrounding the shaft C, which prevents the passage of air or gas through the passage opening 16 for the shaft C. If the compressor and thus also the oil circulation pump come to a standstill, the pressure in the container 22 is reduced and the compressed air cushion in the upper part of the container pushes the 01 in the container down to the mouth of the pipe 23, so that nothing else can pass through this pipe 01 can escape from the container.
The tube empties and then serves as an air inlet tube for the container 22, in that the air entering through the passage opening 16 and the shut-off chamber 17 enters the container 22. Then the 01 in the container 22 flows under the action of gravity through channel 20a and the channels in the sleeve 19 between the valve seat and valve 18 to the oil chamber 42 of the bearing D '. The valve 18 is seated on the end face of the sleeve 19, and only enough oil can creep between the valve and its seat to form a layer of oil between these two parts, which forms a gas-tight seal around the shaft C. contributes.
The oil pump 29 can be of any type. A gear pump is shown, the shaft 46 of which is driven from the main shaft C by means of a suitable gear transmission 47. The pump shaft 46 is fully enclosed by a tube or housing 48, which at the same time carries the pump housing.
As explained above, during the normal rotation of the shaft C, the closing valve 18 is lifted by the axial pressure in the shaft C from its seat. If the shaft comes to a standstill, the valve is placed on its seat by any suitable device which moves the shaft C in the opposite direction. Various devices can be used for this purpose, for example a spring system or a device in the manner of a centrifugal force regulator. Such a device is shown in Fig. 7.
It consists of the flyweights 51 in the connecting joint of the handlebars 52 and 53, a sleeve 54 attached to the shaft c, on which the Len ker 52 attack, and a sleeve 55 slidable on the shaft C, on which the handlebars 53 engage. A compression spring 56 arranged between the sleeves seeks to push the sleeves apart and to put the sliding sleeve against a fixed stop 57, and continue to move the shaft C to the right. When the shaft rotates during operation, the centrifugal effect of the weights 51 compresses the spring 56 and keeps the sliding sleeve 55 out of contact with the stop 57, so that there is no friction.
Another device for the same purpose is shown in Figure 2. It consists of a helical spring 60 which is supported on the one hand against a fixed shoulder 61 and on the other hand against the flange of a sleeve 62 which can move in the shoulder 61 in the axial direction and with a second flange a race of a thrust ball bearing 63 holds, the other race is supported against a cap 64 which is attached to the end (ler shaft C sewable.
The spring 60 seeks to move the shaft C to the right and can bring about this movement and the closure of the valve 18 when the leftward axial pressure of the shaft ceases when the machine is stopped. While the machine is running, the fluid pressure against the thrust washer 10 moves in the same direction, only to the right, and relieves the thrust bearing 63,
so that the rolling friction in this bearing is harmless.
So from camps 1? and D 'no 01 can get into the machine housing _4 along the shaft C, a suitable device is provided to block the Oldurelx step. The one for bearing D is shown in Fig. and 5 drawn. It consists of a liner 65 with several: Ringxmten 66, the shaft on the inside of the liner.
surround. Within each of these annular grooves, the shaft is provided with annular grooves 67, the edges of which clasp the 01 off. The ring grooves 6 7 are expediently connected at the bottom by a channel 68 which the oil can flow back to the oil chamber 44. Any suitable absorbent material 69 is accommodated in one or more of the annular grooves,
which holds 01 in a circular motion when the shaft is at rest. In order to create pressure equalization on both sides of this labyrinth seal and to prevent the 01 from entering the machine housing @I through that seal as a result of pressure differences on the two sides of the seal, a compensation channel 7 0 is provided.
The chamber 71 between the labyrinth seal and the machine housing is expediently connected to the corresponding chamber 42 on the other side of the machine by means of an equalization line 72. So a negative pressure in the two chambers 71, 42 in the two opposite ends of the machine housing of the same size will keep it upright.
Packing rings 73 respectively. 74 serve as a further closure around the cell C between the vacuum chamber 71 and the rotor chamber of the machine, for example between 01s <xrnrnelkamnier 34 and the outside space.
