Elektrische Beheizungsvorrichtung an Walzen.
Fig. 1 zeigt eine Vorderansicht, Fig. 2 eine Seitenansicht.

Electric heating device on rollers. Attempts have been made to heat calender or Ti, ("ul. # Eilwa17en or the like by means of electrical heating elements installed in the interior.
The rollers are (in the same way, over their entire surface area - ni: Issig warmed through, although the heat is all part of the circumference -used, i., I: inilic # li (la. Where the paper - or the web of material covers the roller. The entire remaining part of the roller is unnecessarily heated, and superfluous losses are dissipated here due to the transfer to the external environment.
It has therefore already been proposed to heat such rollers only on part of the envelope, specifically immediately before the point at which the web of paper or fabric to be heated comes into contact with the roller.
The success was only imperfect, however, because intensive local heating always succeeds, but not from the inside, since the warmth has to penetrate the entire thickness of the salt and yet more or less spreads over the whole cylinder.
Such heating from the outside would be easier to carry out. However, there is little space outside. In order to transfer the necessary amount of heat to the roller, you would therefore have to arrange the heating wires very close to the roller surface and also heat them to a particularly high level. However, these are two demands that contradict each other; because the highly heated wires bie conditions due to thermal expansion and come when they are arranged near the roller, with this in electrical contact and cause short circuits.
According to the invention, the object of the roller heating is achieved by means of glow rods which are arranged outside the roller. The glow rods have precisely the properties that are required in this case. Even when they are glowing, they have sufficient rigidity to be able to be freely stored over longer lengths. Alan can therefore move them close to the roller surface without danger. They also enable higher temperatures to be achieved.
A particularly effective heating arises because, with increasing temperature, the transfer of heat through radiation increases extraordinarily strongly. By radiation, however, the heat is transferred to the roller much more quickly than when the air is conveyed by conduction. So (-), it eliminates the need to heat the roll surface that is moving quickly past sufficiently.
Since the required amount of heat can be developed in a relatively small space through the glow rods, the space saved can be used for thermal insulation to the outside, which in turn results in heat savings.
An embodiment of the subject invention is shown in the drawing. FIG. 1 shows a front view, FIG. 2 shows a side view. The roller 1 rotates in the direction of rotation indicated by the arrow. It may serve to dry the paper or fabric balin 29 , which runs onto the top of roller 1 and runs off again over roller 3 . The resistance bars 4 are arranged in frames 5 and 8 .
These consist of angled sheets 6 with partition walls 7. The sheets have two # mIissi (), a reflective surface, so that the captured heat rays reach the roller as completely as possible throw back, the partition walls 7 carry the heating rods -i-, at the same time they serve to protect the reinforced connection ends from the heat emanating from the glowing central parts. The frames 89 are offset against the frames 5 ,
so that despite the lower temperature under the connection ends, the entire length of the roller is evenly heated.
Since the glow rods provide very good heating even if only little space is available, the glowing rod heating from the outside is also of value if there is any kind of internal heating in the roller, but not The interior heating is mainly too weak to be able to heat up the roller quickly.
The glow rod heating can then be used to accelerate the heating up. The radiators can be placed in such a way that they are easily removable. As soon as the heating-up period is over and the company is supposed to be inside, you can remove them from the roller so that they are no longer in the weoe while the masehine is working.
