Abstract

Un système de traitement d'eaux usées à réservoir simple comporte une multiplicité de zones ayant des conditions environnementales différentes, notamment aérobie, anoxique et anaérobie, pour réduire la force des eaux usées très concentrées en termes de composés carbonés organiques et nutriments, notamment l'azote et le phosphore. La zone supérieure du système de traitement fonctionne en alternance dans des conditions aérobies et anoxiques contrôlées par le fonctionnement marche-arrêt d'un souffleur d'air qui introduit de l'air par les diffuseurs d'air placés au bas de la zone supérieure. La section inférieure du système de traitement contient des zones appauvries en oxygène offrant des conditions anoxiques au bas et des conditions anaérobies au-dessus des zones anoxiques et sous les diffuseurs d'air. Les sections supérieure et inférieure du réservoir sont en communication fluidique. Dans le volume de la zone aérobie supérieure et des zones inférieures appauvries en oxygène, un matériau porteur libre ou des objets stationnaires sont disposés pour soutenir la fixation de biomasse microbienne et la formation d'un biofilm microbien. Ainsi, le système de traitement comprend à la fois des microorganismes en suspension et des microorganismes immobilisés.
