Abstract
A desulfurizer (10) comprising a desulfurization column (12) for holding therein at least one porous carbonaceous material (11) selected between activated carbon and active carbon fibers and for contacting a flue gas (13) containing sulfur oxides with the porous carbonaceous material (11) to desulfurize the gas, the desulfurizer (10) having an NO2 gas introduction device (14) for introducing NO2 gas into the desulfurization column (12). Th e desulfurizer has a showering means (15) disposed in an upper part of the desulfurization column (12) so that the internal water content is regulated so as not to be below the saturation vapor amount at the temperature used for treating the flue gas.
