Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out complete deodoration by activated carbon, by containing nitrogen oxides, oxygen and water in the gas to be treated.
CONSTITUTION: Gas containing at least one of ammonia, amines or thioethers as main bad smell component, is treated by activated carbon having 200W2000m2/g of specific surface area. On this occasion, more than 1g equivalent of nitrogen oxides(NOx, mainly NO and NO2 mixed gas) against 1g equivalent of the above mentioned bad smell component, is mixed with the gas as it is or after diluted by air, N2 etc. Exhaust gas burnt such fuel as heavy oil, town gas or LPG etc. in the air, is able to use for nitrogen oxides source also. 0.5 mol of oxygen and 1 mol of moisture against 1 mol of nitrogen wxide (as NO), are contained in the gas to be treated. But, these are nearly contained in the bad smell gas fully and ae added, if neccesary.
