Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif de compression d'image par organisation en couches temporelles et de résolution de trames d'images comprimées (Fig. 8). En particulier, la compression en couches (Fig. 8, points 81, 85, et 86) permet une forme de décomposition modulaire d'une image compatible avec l'application en souplesse de diverses techniques d'amélioration de l'image (Fig. 2). En outre, l'invention apporte un certain nombre d'améliorations permettant de traiter divers problèmes de qualité vidéo et de compression (Fig. 7). La plupart des améliorations sont de préférence matérialisées par un ensemble d'outils utilisables pour des tâches d'amélioration de l'image (Fig. 8, points 82, 86) et de compression de telles images. Un développeur de contenu peut combiner à volonté ces outils de diverses façons pour optimiser la qualité visuelle et l'efficacité de compression des trains de données comprimés. De tels outils cmprennent des techniques améliorées de filtrage de l'image, de représentation et de détermination des vecteurs de mouvement, d'amélioration du désentrelacement et de l'atténuation des bruits, d'analyse du mouvement, de caractérisation et de correction de l'imageur, un système amélioré de transfert 24:30 images/s ou "3:2 pulldown" (Fig. 1), des procédés de vitesse d'image pour la production, une technique de débit binaire modulaire, une structure à transformation en cosinus discrète multicouche (Fig. 20), une optimisation du codage en longueur variable, un système d'augmentation pour les MPEG-2 et MPEG-4, et des vecteurs-guides pour la couche d'amélioration tridimensionnelle (Fig.8, point 87).
