Abstract
A recirculating valve (26) for the fuel system (10) of an internal combustio n engine (18) includes a valve body (30) with a fuel supply passage (32) and a fuel return passage (38). An air separation chamber (43) and a restricted orifice (44) are provided in the fuel return passage (38). A pressure valve (54) allows excess heated return fuel in the air separation chamber (43) to recirculate with the fuel in the fuel supply passage (22). The valve (26) al so directs return air back to the tank (12) and prevents the air from passing t o the engine (18). A thermal actuator (80) maintains the pressure valve (54) i n a closed condition when the fuel increases above a predetermined temperature . A relief valve (90) can be provided in the fuel return outlet port (42) to allow fuel to easily pass back to tank (12) during normal operating conditio ns.
