Abstract
The invention relates to a device for producing storage cases (54). The storage cases (54) consist of at feast two layers of material and are provided with feed holes (58) in said device so that they can be transported in good register and without pulling.
Description
Title: Device for Producing Storage Cases, e.g. for Diskettes, CDs or Similar Description The invention relates to a device for producing storage cases, for example, for diskettes, CDs, or similar.
Cases for holding diskettes or similar objects consist as a rule of at least two layers of material which are joined together. In addition, cases are known which, for technical reasons, have special separating materials. These cases, which are shaped as pockets, can be produced by joining the individual layers of material either with adhesives or by welding. It is known that the individual layers of material are placed on top of one another, and then the different operations are carried out in succession in single steps, where the processing devices act upon on the multilayer sheet, so that the finished product can be removed from the machinery after the last processing step. With this technique, registration control is required to align the materials within the individual single-step devices.
This production method is slow and correspondingly expensive on account of the required cycled advance movement, because a registering device is needed for each procedural step.
The object of the invention is, therefore, to provide a device for producing storage cases, by which the cases can be produced quickly and simply and therefore inexpensively.
The object is fulfilled with a deuce according to the invention which possesses the features of claim 1.
With the device according to the invention, storage cases consisting of several layers of material can be produced in a rotary process. Because of the transport perforation provided in the layers of material, it is now possible to transport all the layers of material simultaneously and in exact registration through the entire device by means of the tractor unit, or several tractor units, and process them.
Since the processing machinery is designed as rotary processing devices, rapid transport is possible, which is considerably more economical than a single-step process.
Because of the possibly complex form of the sleeves, a number of individual processing stations, e.g. welding stations, cutting stations and/or stamping stations, can be set up one behind the other, so that the individual operations can be divided up into substeps. In addition to register-perfect transportation, the transport perforation has the considerable advantage that all the layers of material can be transported tension-free. Normally, several txactor units are provided for this.
Additional advantages, features and details of the invention can be derived from the dependent claims as well as from the following description, in which, with reference to the drawing, a particularly advantageous example of the embodiment is described in detail. The features mentioned in the description and in the claims can be essential to the invention in each case individually or in any combination with each other.
The drawing shows a device identified overall as 10 for producing storage cases, which is divided into modules. Three rollers 16, 18 and 20, on each of which a layer of material 22, 24 anti 26 is wound, are located in a removal device 12, which is devised as an unrolling device 14. Depending on the type of machine, 2 to rolls can be positioned in the unrolling device 14. Each individual roll 16 to 20 has its own lateral edge guide and its own tension measuring system.
Immediately after the unrolling device 14 is a feeder station 28 which has driven rollers, by means of which the individual layers of material 22 to 26 are pulled from the rollers 16 to 20. The layers of material 22 to 26 are lying on top of each other and are then guided through a rotary punching tool 30. In this rotary punching tool 30 transport perforation 32 is introduced along the edge of the layers of material 22 to 26 are perforated for transport. This perforation 32 first of all serves to position the individual material layers 22 to 26 in precise registration as they move on and also to transport them. This transport is carried out by tractor units 34, which have sprocket wheels with teeth, where the teeth engage the individual holes in the transport perforation 32. .
It is provided that a discharge device 36 is attached.to the rotary punching tool 30, in which the middle layer of material 24 is discharged. This is accomplished by the top layer of material 22 and the bottom layer of material 24 being taken out vertically and the middle layer of material 24 being discharged at right angles by means of a 45-degree rollo~-~er wheel 38. A second rollover wheel 40 allows the middle layer of material 24 to be turned over again and thus this layer is moved parallel to the two layers of material 22 and 26. The possibility now exists that the discharged material 24 is cut to shape in a cutting station 42. However, it is also conceivable that it is not the layer of material 24, but, as shown in the drawing, the layers of material 22 and 26 that are cut to shape in the cutting station 42, where the cutting station 42 is set up in the path of these layers of material 22 and 26. The scrap is removed from the cutting station 42 either by vacuum or with a scrap removal belt. In the drawing the shape of the cut is suggested by the reference numeral 44. Since one or several material layers are being discharged, they can undergo different processing compared to the remaining layers of material.
Next the layer of material 24 is fed in again between the two layers of material 22 and 26, for which two rollover wheels 46 and 48 and a feeder device 50 are used, and in the feeder device 50 the two layers of material 22 and 26 are again taken away vertically. Because of the transport perforation 32, the three layers of material 22 through 26 meet again in perfect registration.
The reference numeral 52 identifies a welding device, which for example is made up of an ultrasonic welding device. High-frequency welding devices or heated rollers equipped with heating cartridges for mechanical coining are also possible.
In the welding device 52 the individual layers of material 22 through 26 are welded together. To do this, welding tools designed as rotating.rollers are used. The welding process is indicated by the reference numeral 54. It is conceivable that a second welding device 52' follows the welding device 52.
Next in line is a punching unit 56, which serves to insert holes 58. These holes 58 are usually needed to index the pockets being produced. The punching unit consists of an upper and a lower rotary punching tool.
Following this is a cutting unit 60, in which the finished products 62 are cut out from the welded layers of material 22 through 26. This is performed by a rotary cutting tool with a pressure cylinder. The scrap grid 64 created by this cutting procedure is removed from the device 10 by means of two tractor rollers 66.
The products 62 are now transported on a vacuum line 68 as far as the delivery station 70. The delivery station 70 has two accelerator rollers 72, which take hold of the products 62 and enclose them at increased speed in a star wheel 74. By means of this star wheel the products 62 are lined up standing upright in a rotary runway and delivered. The standing products thus lined up 62 are advanced continuously using a delivery belt 76, from which they can be removed mechanically or manually.
Because of the transport perforation 32, the individual layers of material 22 through 26 can be moved tension-free and in perfect registration and processed by means of the rotary processing machines.
What Is Claimed Is:
1. Device for producing storage cases, for example, for diskettes, CDs or similar, where the storage case consists at least of two layers of material (22 through 26), with a removal device ( 12) for the minimum of two layers of material (22 through 26), a device for producing a transport perforation (32) in the layers of material (22 through 26), a tractor unit (34) for transporting the layers of material (22 through 26) by means of the transport perforation (32) and at least one processing device for processing the layers of material (22 through 26).
