Abstract
The invention is designed to protect an Ostomate's stoma from coming in contact with an Ostomy waste pouch that is normally worn by a person who has a colostomy and must use ostomy appliances and waste pouches.
The Stoma Protector shield is comprised of a semi circular tube with a circular flange on the bottom of the tube. The tube rises vertically above the flange to a designated height from the base of the structure. 35% of the verticle tube is cut away leaving an opening on the surface of the tube. The tubular structure is open at both ends.
The height of the tubular section is sized to the average size of an Ostimate's stoma. The material used in the manufacture of the protector shield can be plastic, metal, or what ever material is deemed best.
The shield is placed between the ostomy appliance wafer inside the wafer's flexible collar next to the surface of the appliance. Then the Ostomy waste collecting pouch is placed on the appliance connecting the pouch to the appliance in the normal fashion. The protector shield is now held in place by the collar of the ostomy pouch, thus preventing the protector shield from becoming loose and falling into the pouch.

Description
1. The Stoma Protector Shield is a constructed form that will protect a Colostomates stoma from discomfort and damage or other irritations.
2. The structure can be manufactured from materials that are suitable such as plastic, metal or other materials.
3. Various sizes of the structure can be manufactured to fit the various sizes of the. ostomy appliances and pouches that are being used by persons who are Colostomates.
4. The structure can be open at the top of the tubular section or it can be partially Gaped still allowing the body waist to flow freely into the ostomy pouch being worn by a colostomate. See Page No.4, item No. l .
5. The circumference ofthe tube on the shield will range from 38 mm to 50 mm.
See Page No. l , item No. I .
See Page No. l , item No. I .
6. The circumference of the flange on the shield will range from 40m to 54 mm.
See Page No. l , item No.2 .
See Page No. l , item No.2 .
7. The thickness of the flange will be 1.5 cm to 2 cm . The thickness of the tube will be 2 to 3 cm. See Page No. l , item No. I and 2 .
8. The flange on item 4 of page 3 drawing will be 2 to 3 cm larger than the virticle tube.
See Page No. I , and No.2 .
See Page No. I , and No.2 .
9. The tubular shield on Page No. l , item No.1 will be 15 to 20 cm in bight.
10. The sizes of the Stoma Protector Shield will be determined by the sizes of the ostomy appliances and pouches presently being manufactured for use by ostomates.
Claims
The claim is, that a Stoma Protector Shield was designed to;
Help protect an Ostomate's stoma from being irritated by an ostomy waist pouch.
It's purpose is to help protect a colostomate's stoma from accidental blows or other unexpected irritations and possible damage.
The shield will also help protect against any clothing that may pressed against the ostomy waist pouch which in turn would come in contact with the stoma, causing irritation and discomfort.
Ultimatly the protector is to assist in making a person more comfortable with their colostomy.
