Abstract

L'invention concerne une munition destinée à une arme de petit calibre susceptible de fonctionner selon un mode semi-automatique ou automatique. Une cartouche de cette munition comporte une combinaison d'une douille (12), de poudre (28) et d'un projectile (24), qui permet au projectile d'être propulsé à une vitesse subsonique à partir de l'arme vers une cible, tout en produisant suffisamment d'énergie pour actionner immanquablement le mécanisme de culasse de l'arme; le projectile ne produit sensiblement aucun son audible au cours de sa trajectoire libre dans l'air. Le projectile (24) de la munition est formé d'un noyau (25) comportant des éléments (40, 46) multiples, chaque élément étant formé à partir d'un mélange de poudre de métal lourd et de poudre de métal léger qui est densifié sous haute pression pour obtenir une densité accrue des éléments, et par conséquent du noyau. Ces éléments sont incorporés à l'intérieur d'une chemise (52) en métal léger par haute pression. Un procédé de fabrication du projectile est décrit.
