Abstract

L'invention concerne un amortisseur sismique magnétorhéologique (20) servant à appliquer des forces d'amortissement régulables entre un premier élément de structure (21) et un deuxième élément de structure (23), à l'intérieur de structures de grandes dimensions, par ex. des bâtiments, ponts, etc. Cet amortisseur sismique (20) comprend un corps amortisseur (22) présentant une cavité (30) et au moins une ouverture (28), au moins une tige de piston (24) coulissant dans l'ouverture (28), un ensemble piston (26) fixé à au moins une tige de piston (24) et pouvant se déplacer axialement à l'intérieur de ladite cavité (30) et subdivisant cette dernière (30) en une première chambre à fluide (32) et une deuxième chambre à fluide (34), un passage pouvant être commandé (36) afin de réguler l'écoulement entre la première chambre à fluide (32) et la deuxième chambre à fluide (34), un fluide magnétorhéologique (38) contenant des particules de matériau magnétique doux dispersées dans un liquide porteur contenu dans ledit passage (36), la première chambre à fluide (32) et la deuxième chambre à fluide (34), ainsi qu'une pluralité de bobines à enroulement alterné (40, 40', 40'') servant à générer une pluralité de champs magnétiques (39, 39', 39'') qui sont dirigés de façon à agir sur le fluide magnétorhéologique (38) contenu dans ledit passage (36) afin de produire des modifications rhéologiques et limiter ainsi l'écoulement du fluide magnétorhéologique (38) à travers ledit passage (36).
