Abstract

Une unité d'acquisition d'images transmet des images numériques de haute résolution en couleur vraie de la rétine de l'oeil à un réseau d'ordinateurs (14, 16, 18) relié à une bibiothèque centrale qui permet l'affichage des images sur un poste de travail éloigné (20A et 20B) en vue d'un examen diagnostique. Le réseau d'ordinateurs (14, 16, 18) est aussi interfacé avec une unité permettant l'entrée des informations relatives aux antécédents médicaux, et les données de diagnostique, les images stéréo et les enregistrements médicaux sont assemblés dans une base de données relationnelles, ce qui permet à tous les enregistrements d'images et de texte de résider sur un poste de travail avec afficheur (20A et 20B) aux fins de visualisation ou de consultation. Une ligne de télécommunications (22) relie le réseau d'ordinateurs (14, 16, 18) et les postes d'examen des images avec le poste d'acquisition d'images où le patient est en cours d'examen, de façon à ce que les images stéréos de fundus soient disponibles par l'intermédiaire de l'ordinateur pour être visualisées sans dégradation sur les afficheurs d'examen situés en des points éloignés de la salle, du bâtiment ou de la ville où les images du patient sont acquise. L'introduction de la normalisation numérique en couleur vraie au niveau de la source d'acquisition des images (34, 32) permet d'éviter le problème de faux artéfacts couleur qui sont imputables à une visualisation différée ou effectuée sur des écrans différents.
