Abstract

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE

An electrical jack for automotive vehicles has a removable support plate attachable to the chassis or body of a vehicle, the plate having two opposite side prolongations between which is placed a worm with its bearing. The worm has two halves of a screw in opposite directions along which move two nuts in the opposite directions, said nuts attached to two pairs of braces which are attached at their free ends to dentated shapes which allow the respective engagement and vertical movement of the pairs of braces. On one of the ends of the worm a dentated crown is attached which engages with the attack pinion of an electric motor connected to the battery of the vehicle. At the other end of the worm is a polygonal tab which turns the worm by a manual key.

ELECTRICAL JACK FOR AUnoHCnlVE VEHICLES

The present Patent refers to an electrical jack for automotive vehicles.
Jacks of this type, currently in use, are items that are normally placed in the boot with other items for use in case of need.
Normally it is very awkward to position the jack on the automobile ch~q~is to raise the same, and it is also awkward to activate the jack once it is in place, U9ing a lever that beca w of its shape does not aid in correctly positioning the iack and thus an accident may occur.
With the jack of the invention, the problems ~re overcome that are very important for the driver of the vehicle because they result in an extremely inconvenient operation of the iack.
The object of the invention is a jack that is attached to, although removable from the chassis or body of the vehicle. in such a way that each side has at least one jack, preferably in a transversal direction with respect to the length of the vehicle.
Another advantaye of the invention lies in the fact that the jack is activated preferably by an electric tor coupled to the jnck an~ connected ,electrically, for example, to the battery of the vehicle.
According to the invention, the jack is ma~e up of an upper end support plate by means of which the removable iack i5 attached to the chassis or body, for example by screws.
On the said support is a worm with end rollers, and this worm has the peculiarity of being formed by two screw portions with threads in different directions, that i9, one portion is right handed and the other left handed.
Cbupled to the worm are two end nuts attached to two pair~ of ~races.
Each pair of braces is jointed in the centre part by dentated shapes that, being iointed by a transversal axle form a type of engager that makes the two end wheels placed on the said axle carry out the seating and support of the jack on the ground or on any appropriate surface.
The worm has at one end a dentated crown that connects with the nttnck pinion of the motor, thus causing the worm to turn in either of the two directions of turn.
On the opposite end of the worm, the axle ends in a polygonal shape so that the worm may be turned by a traditional key, all this in case the engine is not operative at a given moment.
On the support, a guide is mounted with circular or polygonal section on the nuts that move on the worm and attached to the same by means of channelling shapes of the same section as the nuts 80 that with this 2~;~3, 90 attachment the nuts will not move in their seating since these nuts hav~ a flat end by which they slide over the support surface, and also it avoids the nuts placing their full pressure on the worm.
In order to more easily understand not only the formation but also the use of the obiect of the invention, reference is made below to A practical example of the object, such execution being merely enLnciative and in no case limiting the ~ame, all as shown in the ~ttached drawin~s, in which:
- Figure 1 shows a side view of the jack.
- Figure 2 sho~s a view under the jack.
The Jack 1 i5 formed by a support plate 2 with t~o side prolongations 3 on which are appropriately mounted some bearings 4 to support a worm 5 f~rmed by two portions of thread 6 and 7 one right handed and the other left handed, or vice versa.
On these thread portions 6 and 7 two nuts 8 ar2 mounted held to two pairs of braces 9.
Each pair of braces 9 is finished at one end by a dentation 10 by means of which the ~races for each pair engage and cause them to move thr~ugh the central coupling, in a vertic~l direction.
Each pair of braces is mounted at its free end on an axle 11 on which are attached two end wheels 12 to support the iack on a flat surface, for example, the ground.
On one end of the worm is attached a dentated cro~n 13 that engages with the attack pinion 14 of the electric motor 15 that is activated by a switch through the electrical current from the battery, said switch being placed preferably on the vehicle dashboard.
The support plate has a guide 16 on which the nuts move through two grooves in the nuts, ~nd these also have a flat exterral slot to slide on the flat end 17 of the support plate.
The end of the worm oppcsite the engine has a tab 18 polygonal in shape to attach a manual lever by which the worm is activated when the engine is not operative.
Having sufficiently described the nature of the invention, ~nd the manner in which it works in practice, it must be stated that the layouts indicated above and represented in the attached dr~wings, are susceptible to the modification of the details providing this does not alter their ~asic principle.

Claims (2)

1. Electrical jack for automotive vehicles: characterised by being formed by a removable support plate that is attached to the chassis or body of the vehicle, and which plate has two opposite side prolongations between which is placed a worm with its bearings. with the worm having two halves of a screw in opposite directions along which also move two nuts in the opposite direction, attached by two pairs of braces that are attached at their free ends to dentated shapes that allow the respective engagement and vertical movement of these pairs of braces, on one of the ends of the worm a dentated crown is attached that engages with the attack pinion of an electric motor connected to the battery of the vehicle, while at the other end the worm has a polygonal tab to turn the worm by a manual key; and because the nuts move through a guide in the support plate and also the nuts slide on the upper part on the horizontal end corresponding to the support plate.
2. Electrical jack according to claim 1 characterised because the two pairs of braces are attached by a transversal axle to each of which is coupled an end wheel that form the support items or parts of the jack.
