Memoire descriptif:
La presente invention sera utilisee dans les rayons de bibliothèque pour retenir les livres à la verticale ou separer des series de volumes sur une même tablette.
La majorite des appui-livres que j'ai examines dans les ~bibliothèques sont fabriques en plastique ou en metal et se presentent en forme de L ou de T renverse qui se glissent sous les derniers livres. D'autres appui-livres sont faits d'une tige metallique repliee qui s'agrippe sous la tablette superieure.
Ceux en T renverse ou en L sont inefficaces parce que dès que l'on retire les derniers livres tous les autres glissent le plus souvent.
Ceux qui s'agrippent sous la tablette superieure ne peuvent pas retenir les volumes de petit format quand les tabelttes sont distancees de 30 cm ou plus.
J'ai dejà examine 5 brevets, 1 canadien no 1092062 et 4 americain no 2,954,878,no 3,120,894, no 3,142,384, no 3,30~,964 qui ont ete accordes entre les annees 1960 et 1967, Tous ces modèles ont l'inconvenient de s'adapter sur des tablettes specialement conçues pour le type d'appui-livre. Certains comportent des pièces apparentes que tout usager peut retirer et rendre inefficace l'appui-livre en question.
Avant même d'avoir recu ces copies de brevets, ~'avais dejà
mis au point mon mecanisme qui s'agrippe à la tablette à ]'avant et à l'arrière et fait un appui-livre autonome. De plus l'utilisation de mon invention n'exige pas de changer ou de modifier toutes les tablettes d'une bibliotlèque comme ce serait le cas pour les modèles accordes par les brevets anterieurs.
Le bras mobile, retenu par un ressort, permet de mettre en place l'appui-livre, de le retirer au besoin et de fixer solidement le mecanisme à la tablette tout en acceptant le glissement à gauche ou à droite au besoin.
J'ai mis au point un modèle qui elimine le ressort et permet au bras mohile de glisser quand même tout en etant retenue par friction en serrant plus ou moins le bras mobile et la base fixe l'un contre l'autre.

Dans le figure 1, l'appui-livre est compose d'un boitier 5, de 2 pièces metalliques, une base fixe 1 et un bras mobile 3, unis par un ressort 4 attache à deux supports d'ancrage 6: le premier unis à la base ixe par un rivet en acier 9, le deuxième fa~onne à meme le bras mobile 3. Descriptive memory:
The present invention will be used in the departments of library to hold books vertically or separate series of volumes on the same tablet.
The majority of the book supports I have examined in the ~ bookcases are made of plastic or metal and are have L-shaped or T-shaped flips that slide under the latest books. Other book supports are made of a rod folded metal that grips under the upper shelf.
Those in T reverses or in L are ineffective because as soon as we remove the last books all the others slide the most often.
Those who grip under the upper shelf cannot not retain small volumes when tabelttes are distances of 30 cm or more.
I have already examined 5 patents, 1 Canadian number 1092062 and 4 American No. 2,954,878, No. 3,120,894, No. 3,142,384, No. 3.30 ~, 964 which were granted between the years 1960 and 1967, All of these models have the disadvantage of adapting on shelves specially designed for the type of book support. Some have visible parts that any user can remove and render the book support in question ineffective.
Before I even received these patent copies, I already had developed my mechanism that grips the tablet at] 'before and at the back and makes a stand-alone book support. Furthermore the use of my invention does not require changing or modify all the shelves of a library as it would be the case for models granted by previous patents.
The movable arm, retained by a spring, allows place the book support, remove it if necessary and fix securely the tablet mechanism while accepting the swipe left or right as needed.
I have developed a model that eliminates the spring and allows the mohile arm to slide anyway while being retained by friction by tightening more or less the movable arm and the base fixes one against the other.

In Figure 1, the book support consists of a box 5, of 2 metal parts, a fixed base 1 and a movable arm 3, united by a spring 4 attaches to two anchoring supports 6: the first joined to the ixed base by a steel rivet 9, the second fa ~ onne even the movable arm 3. J'ai place aussi des coussinets 2 aux angles strategiques des crochets de la base fixe 1 et du bras mobile 3. Une cavit~ ~1 est pratiqu~e dans le boitier 5 pour permettre au bras mobile 3 de glisser.
Tel qu'illustre à la figure 2, le bras mobile 3 glisse sur la base fixe 1 dans une mortaise 10 legèrement plus profonde que llepaisseur du bras mobile. Il est aussi plus etroit que la base fixe 1. La base fixe 1 est retenue au boitier 5 par des vis 3.
Selon la figure 4, nous pouvons placer une pochette d'identification 7 qui servira comme repère selon la classifica-tion choisie.
Selon la figure 3, nous pla~ons une pièce en U 20 à clleval sur la mortaise 10 pour assurer une friction entre le boitier 5 et le bras mobile 3. Ceci nous permet de faire disparaitre le ressort 4 et la pièce dlancrage 6 illustres à la figure 1.
Aux figures 5,6,7 et 8, une modification peut être apportee en remplaçant le ressort 4 par extension par un ressort 18 par compression. A la figure 5, le ressort 18 est retenu par un support d'ancrage 6, fa~onne à meme le bras mobile 3, et une tige-guide 16.
Dans la figure 6, nous voyons la tete de la tige-guide 16 retenue par la pièce trouee 19.
Selon la figure 7, une pièce trouee 19 retient la tige quide 16 à une extremite du bloc, tandis que l'autre bout de la tige-quide glisse dans le support d'ancrage 6.
J'ai fait subir 3 transformations au bras mobile 3 pour lui permettre de s'adapter à des tablettes actuellement en usage dans les bibliothèques des ecoles, figures 9, 10 et 11. A la figure 9, le bras mobile 3 s'adapte à une tablette standard 12, en bois ou en metal, dont le dosseret est amovible.

a~o~ ~1 Dans la figure 10, le bras mobile 3 a ete modifie en bras mobile 3A pour s'adapter à une tablette 13 dont le dosseret 11 fait partie integrante. Le bras mobile 3A contourne le dosseret 11, par un crochet en U et vient s'agripper sous la tablette 13.
Pour repondre au besoin des usagers, selon la figure 11, j'ai aussi modifie le bras mobile 3 pour arriver au bras mobile 3B qui s'adapte à une tablette fixe 14 faisant partie d'ume structure. Le bras mobile 3B, en forme de B vient se glisser sous une ferrure en "S" 15 qui sera fixee à la stucture par des vis en acier 17. Un coussinet 2 pourrait y etre installe pour reduire le frottement metal sur metal ou metal sur bois.

According to Figure 4, we can place a pocket identification 7 which will serve as a benchmark according to the classification-tion chosen.
According to Figure 3, we pla ~ ons a U-shaped part 20 in clleval on the mortise 10 to ensure friction between the case 5 and the movable arm 3. This allows us to remove the spring 4 and the anchoring part 6 illustrated in FIG. 1.
In Figures 5,6,7 and 8, a modification can be made replacing spring 4 by extension with spring 18 by compression. In FIG. 5, the spring 18 is retained by a anchoring support 6, fa ~ onne even the movable arm 3, and a guide rod 16.
In figure 6, we see the head of the guide rod 16 retained by the hole 19.
According to FIG. 7, a perforated part 19 retains the rod which 16 at one end of the block, while the other end of the rod that slides in the anchor support 6.
I made the mobile arm 3 undergo 3 transformations for it allow adaptation to tablets currently in use in school libraries, figures 9, 10 and 11. In figure 9, the movable arm 3 adapts to a standard shelf 12, made of wood or in metal, the backsplash is removable.

a ~ o ~ ~ 1 In Figure 10, the movable arm 3 has been changed to an arm mobile 3A to adapt to a shelf 13 including the backsplash 11 is an integral part. The mobile arm 3A bypasses the backsplash 11, by a U-shaped hook and grips under the shelf 13.
To meet the needs of users, according to Figure 11, I also modified the mobile arm 3 to arrive at the mobile arm 3B which adapts to a fixed shelf 14 forming part of ume structure. The B-shaped movable arm 3B slides under an "S" fitting 15 which will be fixed to the structure by screws steel 17. A pad 2 could be installed to reduce the metal friction on metal or metal on wood.
