Abstract

PROCESSO DE CARBONIZAçãO DA MADEIRA PARA A PRODUçãO DE CARVãO VEGETAL. The carbonization process of wood or any type of plant material consists of subjecting it to heat treatment at temperatures higher than ambient temperature, in a controlled atmosphere, if possible free of free oxygen. The present invention relates to a process, an operating technique when using the reactor assembly that characterizes the DPC system. The DPC process has been the subject of previous patent applications filed with the INPI under numbers P1980264-9, P19806361 and P101044966. Basically, the new operating technique consists of the use of hot gases from the burning of gases released during the pre-carbonization and carbonization steps, as a thermal fluid for the heat supply during the pre-carbonization stage of the wood. This operational technique is innovative and is not used in any of the wood carbonization processes currently in use for charcoal making. The alternative of placing the various system components on a mobile platform is presented. The other characteristics of the DPC process are maintained, object of the mentioned patent applications. Volatile products released during the carbonization of wood - non-condensable gases and condensable pyroligneous vapors - are burned in an independent combustion chamber to generate the heat required for the process. As a result, burning of part of the wood is avoided and pollutant gases are not released into the atmosphere. The excess of pyroligneous vapors in relation to what is necessary to meet the thermal needs of the process, can be condensed and led to the recovery plant of the various products given off by the wood. The process proposed by the present invention allows a precise control of the carbonization of the wood, obtaining Thus charcoal with the desired characteristics, and a higher gravimetric yield from carbonization, which in turn means an increase in the cultivated forest reserve. The proposed process allows the use of roil on truck buckets between the forest and the carbonization facility, which represents a considerable logistical advantage.
