Abstract

PROTEÍNAS VARIANTES DE OSTEOPROTEGERINA. A presente invenção se refere a novas proteínas variantes de osteoprotegerina (OVPs) que demonstram afinidade de ligação reduzida por seu ligante TRAIL quando comparado com a osteoprotegerina do tipo silvestre. Acidos nucleicos que codificam essas OVPs também são proporcionados. Vetores recombinantes e células hospedeiras expressando essas OVPs também são abrangidos, assim como método de produção de OVPs recombinantes. A presente invenção também se refere à composições compreendendo essas OVPs e a métodos de tratamento de doenças ásseas caracterizadas por modificação e/ou perda óssea aumentada. As OVPs da invenção são úteis para prevenção de reabsorção ôssea e podem ser usadas para tratar qualquer condições que resulta em modificação óssea ou perda ássea anormal, tal como osteoporose, hipercalcemia, doença ôssea de Paget, mieloma múltiplo, cancer ásseo e perda óssea em virtude de artrite reumatóide ou osteomielite e semelhantes.
