Abstract
"MéTODO E SISTEMA PARA PROPORCIONAR UMA CAMADA INTERMEDIáRIA VIRTUAL DE PROTOCOLO". é revelada uma "camada intermediária" virtual de protocolo entre duas camadas de protocolo em uma pilha de comunicação. Quando uma tarefa de comunicação precisa ser realizada, porém implementação dentro das camadas de protocolo existentes pode impedir o desdobramento devido a problemas de compatibilidade, os métodos da presente invenção são usados para criar uma camada intermediária para gerenciar a tarefa. Um esquema de endereçamento peculiar à camada intermediária é estabelecido. A camada intermediária libera as outras camadas na pilha de protocolos para operar como anteriormente, deixando para a camada intermediária os detalhes específicos de realizar a tarefa de comunicação. Em uma modalidade, a camada intermediária é construída entre as camadas 2 e 3 de protocolo ISO/OSI. Roteamento de origem é realizado dentro dessa camada intermediária utilizando endereços de camada intermediária. Mediante uso de endereços de camada intermediária mais propriamente do que endereços de camada 2 ou camada 3, essa modalidade de roteamento de origem permite compatibilidade tanto com múltiplos protocolos de camada 3 como com múltiplas interfaces de rede de camada 2.
