Abstract
"MODELO DE CIRCULAçãO DE BANHO DE SAL FUNDIDO PARA UMA PILHA ELETROLìTICA". Pilha eletrolítica (10) para redução de um óxido de metal a um metal e oxigênio tendo um anodo inerte (29a, b, c) e um teto angulado de modo ascendente (40) que cobre o anodo inerte. O teto angulado diverge as bolhas de oxigênio em um canal superior (34), dessa forma, agitando um banho de sal fundido no canal superior e melhorando a dissolução de um óxido de metal no banho de sal fundido. O banho de sal fundido tem uma velocidade menor adjacente ao anodo inerte de forma a minimizar a corrosão por substâncias no banho. Uma pilha particularmente preferida produz alumínio por meio de eletrólise de alumina em um banho de sal fundido contendo fluoreto de alumínio e fluoreto de sódio.
