Abstract

<B>MéTODO E APARELHO PARA MEDIR A DENSIDADE DE UMA SUBSTâNCIA TENDO COMPENSAçãO DE áGUA LIVRE<D> Um método e aparelho para medir a quantidade de água livre contida em uma substância inclui uma guia de onda (64) tendo lados frontal e traseiro (66, 68) dispostos opostos entre si. O guia de onda (64) define uma câmara (74) para propagar um sinal de microondas através do mesmo. O guia de ondas (64) tem uma extremidade (78) perpendicular aos lados frontal e traseiro (66, 68) que forma um curto na câmara. Os lados frontal e traseiro (66, 68) têm individualmente uma abertura (80) para passar uma substância através da mesma. Um sinal de microondas na faixa de freq³ência de 10-25 gigahertz (GHz) é orientado através da câmara (74) em que o sinal de microondas gerado é refletido de volta do curto da extremidade (78). Os sinais gerados e refletidos formam uma razão que é utilizada por um microprocessador (60) juntamente com a medição de um sensor adjacente (12) que fornece uma medição de constante dielétrica correspondendo á densidade da substância para determinar um peso da substância compensada para água livre.
