Para que o processo ou o dispositivo precise de um número o menor possível de sensores para valores característicos de serviço, está previsto um campo característico (20), do qual, na dependência da pressão do compressor (PL), do número de rotações do motor (n) e de uma especificação de quantidade de combustível (QK) correspondente à posição do acelerador, é derivada a pressão do ar de aspiração (AL) do compressor (3, 5) e que existem meios (21) que, na dependência da pressão do ar de aspiração (AL), determinam um valor limite (QKG1) para a quantidade de combustível (QK') distribuida ao motor de combustão interna (1).
