''SISTEMA DE TRANSMISSãO E MéTODO PARA CONTROLAR UM SISTEMA DE TRANSMISSãO'', sendo o sistema de transmissão mecânica (10) provido com um mecanismo de retenção (156/172,186/196) para aplicar uma resistência de retenção seletivamente variável para desengate de uma relação de marcha engatada. Para prover resistência ao escape induzido por alavanca de mudança (31) quando não for detectada nenhuma intenção de mudança, uma resistência maior de retenção é provida, e para prover qualidade melhorada de mudança ao se detectar uma intenção de mudança, é provida uma resistência de retenção menor.
