Abstract

um dispositivo e método para radioembolização no tratamento de células cancerosas no organismo. em modalidades preferidas, uma radiomicroesfera é formada a partir de uma resina onde um isótopo emissor alfa é utilizado para fins tumoricidas. à medida que o emissor alfa decai, os descendentes do decaimento alfa são capturados pela resina. em modalidades adicionais, o dispositivo compreende pelo menos dois isótopos; em que um primeiro isótopo é para fins terapêuticos e um segundo isótopo é para fins dosimétricos. o segundo isótopo é um emissor de pósitron para dosimetria baseada em pet. em modalidades preferidas, uma dose absorvida por radiação pós-tratamento é determinada utilizando a presente invenção, permitindo que tanto o tratamento como a eficácia do tratamento sejam fornecidos a um paciente com câncer.
