são descritos um dispositivo sem fio 108 e um método no mesmo para auxiliar na seleção do precodificador para comunicação sem fio com um nó de rádio (rn) 106, e um rn 106 para realizar seleção de precodificador para comunicação sem fio com um dispositivo sem fio 108. o dispositivo sem fio é configurado com um conjunto de precodificadores. o dispositivo sem fio determina um subconjunto de precodificadores dentre o conjunto de precodificadores; e transmite, para o rn, pelo menos um sinal de referência de sondagem (srs) precodificado com um respectivo pelo menos um precodificador compreendido no subconjunto. o rn recebe, a partir do dispositivo sem fio, pelo menos um srs precodificado com um respectivo pelo menos um precodificador compreendido em um subconjunto de precodificadores; e transmite, para o dispositivo sem fio, um sinal indicativo de um precodificador selecionado para ser usado para uma transmissão para o rn, em que o precodificador selecionado é indiretamente selecionado com base no pelo menos um srs recebido.
