Abstract

a presente invenção diz respeito a um método e a um arranjo para o processamento de corpos de carbono calcinados, tais como anodos ou catodos, para uso no contexto da produção eletrolítica de alumínio. os corpos de carbono são processados usando uma ferramenta rotativa de processamento (101) que consiste em um disco principalmente circular com arestas de corte (114) montadas em sua periferia. as arestas de corte podem ser feitas de diamante policristalino (pcd) ou de um material equivalente. a ferramenta rotativa de processamento é montada em um fuso acionado rotativo e é guiada por elementos guias (110) que podem ser jatos ou discos perfurados que sopram ar pressurizado na ferramenta, ou rolos (120). é possível, com a presente invenção, criar fendas profundas e estreitas em corpos de carbono calcinados de forma eficiente, com pouco desgaste da ferramenta.
