modelação da ação de uma fibra óptica em um tratamento para terapia fotodinâmica e assistência ao planejamento de tal tratamento. a invenção refere-se a um método (200) que fornece assistência no planejamento do tratamento de um paciente com terapia fotodinâmica no planejamento do tratamento de um paciente com terapia fotodinâmica, durante a qual uma substância fotossensível predefinida deve ser administrada no paciente e subsequentemente submetida a uma luz em um comprimento de onda predefinido através de um número de fibras ópticas, que podem ser inseridas em um comprimento de inserção na área a ser trabalha, de acordo com a aposição em relação a uma grade de braquiterapia. o método compreende: a madição (230) do volume da área a ser tratada através de reconstrução de volume na base do processamento digital dos contornos inseridos diretamente em uma série de imagens processamento digital da área a ser tratada; e subsequentemente, na base do cálculo do número de fibras ópticas a ser usado, determinar (250) a posição das fibras ópticas em relação à grade de braquiterapia e ao comprimento de inserção da mesma, o que aprimora a correspondência entre um volume de ação teórico total calculado e o volume medido da área a ser tratada, sendo o dito volume de ação teórico total calculado como uma função da posição de cada fibra e de um volume de ação teórico elementar de uma fibra que corresponde ao volume de um cilindro que tem altura e raio de ação predeterminado r que correspode ao comprimento de inserção da fibra. a invenção também se refere a um método 9100) para modelar o raio de ação de uma fibra óptica com o uso de uma correlação dos volumes medidos de áreas necrosadas de fato seguindo uma pluralidade de ensaios clínicos desempenhados em diferentes pacientes com volumes teóricos calculados na base dos mesmos conjuntos de parâmetros que aqueles usados nos ensaios clínicos e do volume de ação teórico elementar de uma fibra.
