Abstract

"MéTODO APERFEIçOADO PARA USO DE ADITIVOS QUìMICOS INSOLúVEIS EM áGUA COM POLPA E PRODUTOS FABRICADOS POR MEIO DO DITO MéTODO". As fibras de polpa tratadas quimicamente são usadas para formar um material fibroso não trançado."METHOD PERFORMANCE FOR USE OF WATER-INSOLuble CHEMICAL ADDITIVES WITH PULP AND PRODUCTS MADE BY THIS METHOD". Pulp fibers can be treated with water-insoluble chemical additives resulting in a minimum amount of non-retained water-insoluble chemical additives present after exposure of the process-treated pulp fibers to liquids or solutions used in the products. One embodiment of the present invention is a method for preparing chemically treated pulp fiber. A semi-fluid fiber pulp is created comprising process water and pulp fibers. The semi-fluid fiber pulp is conveyed to a pulp sheet machine's web forming apparatus thereby forming a wet fibrous web. The wet fibrous web is dried to a predetermined consistency thereby forming a dry fibrous web. The dried fibrous web is treated with a water-insoluble chemical additive thereby forming a chemically treated dry fibrous web containing chemically treated pulp fibers. Chemically treated pulp fibers have a better level of chemical retention of the water-insoluble chemical additive and retain from about 25 to about 100 percent of the applied amount of the water-insoluble chemical additive when chemically treated pulp fibers are exposed to a liquid, such as water. Chemically treated pulp fibers are used to form an unbraided fibrous material.
