Abstract

"MéTODOS DE AVALIAçãO DE PERMUTA GASOSA ALVEOLAR, DE TRATAMENTO DE DOENçA OU INFECçãO DO TRATO RESPIRATóRIO E DE DETERMINAçãO DA PRESENçA DE DOENçA OU INFECçãO DO TRATO RESPIRATóRIO E KIT". A presente invenção refere-se a um ensaio para avaliação da permuta alveolar de oxigênio. Um substrato marcado com ^13 ^C tal como bicarbonato de sódio ^13 ^C é administrado a um sujeito por via oral ou iv e mede-se o ^13 ^CO~ 2~ exalado. O ^13 ^CO~ 2~ na expiração pode ser coletado em vários pontos temporais a seguir à administração do substrato e medido em <30> por milésimo de polegada com um analisador de massa ou fotómetro, tal como um espetrómetro IR. Esse processo pode ser usado como teste de diagnóstico para a indicação, tratamento e/ou avaliação da severidade das doenças ou infecções do trato respiratório.
