Abstract

"ALELOS DE CALPASTATINA (CAST)". A presente invenção refere-se a novos alelos caracterizados por polimorfismos no gene CAST. Os alelos podem ser usados para tipificar geneticamente os animais. Em uma modalidade preferida, os alelos podem ser usados como marcadores para qualidade de carne animal e/ou de crescimento. São ainda descritos métodos para identificar tais marcadores, e métodos para classificar animais para determinar aqueles com maior probabilidade de produzir carne com qualidade e/ou de crescimento e, preferivelmente, selecionar aqueles animais para fins futuros de reprodução.
