Abstract

"FILAMENTO DE PTFE EXPANDIDO COM SEçãO TRANSVERSAL REDONDA". A presente invenção refere-se a uma fibra de PTFE expandida de forma fina com uma seção transversal redonda e uma superfície externa suave que é obtida pela torção de filamentos esticados planos acima do limite ideal para essas fibras e subseq³entemente pelo esticamento adicional com tratamento por calor. Esses filamentos podem ser utilizados para tecidos, entre outras aplicações, e estão presentes as seguintes propriedades: baixo encolhimento, baixo alongamento sob tensão e alta resistência à tensão. A invenção também sugere um processo de fabricação da dita fibra, compreendendo as etapas de torção do dito filamento de PTFE expandido em excesso ao nível ideal para a fibra, e esticamento da fibra torcida sob tratamento por calor até que a fibra retorne para sua torção ideal e seja fixada.
