Abstract

"MéTODO E APARELHO PARA MONITORAR A INTEGRIDADE DE COMPONENTES E ESTRUTURAS". A invenção se refere a um método e aparelho para monitorar a integridade de uma estrutura (10) disposta em uma ambiente contendo um fluido F em uma pressão ambiente. A estrutura 10 possui um revestimento externo (12) e uma pluralidade de cavidades internas (14). O método envolve aplicar uma fluido adicional nas cavidades 14, o fluido aplicado estando em uma pressão que é marginalmente maior do que a pressão atmosférica ambiente (F). A taxa de fluxo de fluido aplicada é monitorada para detecção em uma alteração na taxa de fluxo. A alteração na taxa de fluxo é indicativa de fluido adicional através da estrutura (10) proporcionando antecipado aviso de uma falha na integridade da estrutura (10). A monitoração é alcançada pela passagem do fluido aplicado através de uma alta impedância de fluxo de fluido (28) e monitoração para a alteração na pressão através da impedância (28) usando um transdutor (30).
