Abstract

"MECANISMO AUTO-AJUSTáVEL PARA COLUNAS DE DIREçãO". A presente invenção refere-se a aperfeiçoamento desenvolvido em coluna de direção que é dotada de um mecanismo com esferas recirculantes e com um sistema auto-ajustável para compensação de folgas e desgastes do seu sistema de transmissão de torque. O mecanismo de auto-ajuste (5) proposto é montado no final do tubo interno (4), de modo a garantir o seu perfeito deslizamento no interior do tubo externo (3). O mecanismo auto-ajustável funciona como um rolamento linear, possuindo três pistas (6) sobre as quais trabalham esferas recirculantes (7), que proporcionam um movimento axial bastante suave. As três pistas de esferas recirculantes (7) são montadas numa gaiola (8), cuja função é mantê-las alojadas. As esferas recirculantes (7) trabalham entre a pista (6) e o tubo externo (3). Sobre o eixo central da gaiola (9) são montados expansores (10) e a mola (11). A mola (11) força axialmente os expansores (10), que através de seus planos inclinados (cónicos) transformam o movimento axial em radial. A carga da mola (11), dosse modo, é direcionada para as esferas recirculantes (7), comprimindo-as contra as paredes do tubo externo (3), eliminando as folgas. A transmissão de torque entre os tubos interno (4) e externo (3) ocorre através das esferas (7). O tubo interno (3) tem uma função auxiliar e atua como uma segunda gaiola. As esferas (7) trabalham dentro das janelas, precisamente manufaturadas para evitar folgas radiais. O tubo externo (3) é projetado com 6 dentes (12), enquanto que o tubo interno (4) apresenta somente 3 dentes (13). As três janelas são manufaturadas no tubo interno (4) de modo a garantir uma eq³idistância entre as esferas (7) e entre os dentes (12 e 13). Outra característica importante do mecanismo de auto-ajuste da invenção é a segurança contra falhas abruptas. Isto é conseguido porque os três dentes (13) do tubo interno (4) continuam transmitindo torque aos três dentes (12) do tubo externo (3), mesmo que todo o sistema de esferas (7) esteja inoperante. Esta redundância torna possível ao motorista antever qualquer problema sem qualquer possibilidade de falha súbita com perda do controle do veículo, como ocorre nos demais mecanismo de auto-ajuste para colunas de direção conhecidos.
