The gas flow diffuser is used in particular in silencers for the intake and discharge systems of an internal combustion engines. It has simplified design which is made without deep drawing or welding of individual parts. The diffuser has isoperimetric cross sections having a permanent perimeter, also having exactly two interperpendicular planes of symmetry across its longitudinal axis (6). It has a confuser (3) and diffuser (5) parts, the surface of the individual cross sections changing depending on the fact to what extent their form deviates from the circular, and the input (1) and output (2) sections coincide with the round section of the thin-walled tubular billet of the diffuser.
