<EMI ID=2.1>
Automatic piston stroke limiting device.
An automatic piston stroke limiting and anti-blocking device for a hydraulic connection between a cylinder
motor and a receiving cylinder located at a greater or lesser distance from the first.
When it is necessary to establish a remote hydraulic connection
between a motor cylinder and a receiving cylinder (see diagram in Figure 1). The volume of the fluid likely to be displaced by each of the two pistons during the stroke may not be identical due to internal leaks. Therefore, the race of the
receiving piston gradually shifts towards one or the other
of its cylinder bottoms. This can result in percussion shocks at the bottom of the stroke or blockage of the entire system.
The role of the invented device is to avoid these percussion shocks and to prevent the system from blocking. In other words, his
role is to allow the entire system to continue its normal operation despite internal leaks.
On the other hand, the invention allows the use of a motor cylinder
whose displacement is greater than that of the receiving cylinder
<EMI ID = 1.1> We first consider the functioning of the system in a normal situation. Next, we describe the operation of the invented device in the event that the system should have crashed.
<EMI ID = 2.1>
The volume displaced by the driving piston is smaller than the displacement of the receiving cylinder.
The invented device does not modify the conventional operation of the receiving cylinder. It works in the following way:
When the fluid pressure is applied to the right side of the piston (see situation 1 in Figure 2), the valve "B" of the receiving piston opens while the valve "A" closes. The receiving piston moves to the left.
When the fluid pressure is applied to the left side of the piston (see situation 3 in Figure 2), the valve "A" of the receiving piston opens while the valve "B" closes. The receiving piston moves to the right.
2) ABNORMAL SITUATION
The volume displaced by the driving piston is greater than the displacement of the receiving cylinder. In this case, the invented device avoids blockage of the system by allowing the fluid coming from the engine cylinder to pass through the receiving piston.
At the start, pressure is applied to the right side of the receiving piston (see situation 1 in Figure 2), the valve "B" opens while the valve "A" closes. The receiving piston normally moves to the left as in the case described above in $ 1.
When the receiving piston reaches the end of the stroke, the valve stem "A" abuts against the bottom of the cylinder (see situation 2 in Figure 2). The valve "A" opens and communicates the 2 faces of the piston. The flow of fluid from the control cylinder can thus flow through the receiving piston. Although the receiving piston is immobilized, it does not prevent the driving piston from completing its normal stroke.
Then, when the fluid pressure is applied to the left side of the piston (see situation 3 in Figure 2), the valve "B" closes and the receiving piston moves to the right.
The device is symmetrical and can act symmetrically at the 2 ends of the receiving cylinder.
In the example described, the fluid used is a liquid.
CONSTITUTION
The invented device consists of a chamber arranged in a piston and in which are placed 2 valves (discs, balls, etc.) extended by a rod to detect the bottom of the cylinder. The valves, inside the chamber, are connected elastically to each other by a spring which pushes them against the orifices in communication with the faces of the piston. The plan 8660 - 449 shows 3 nonlimiting examples of embodiment of the invented device.
CLAIMS
) The invented device is applicable in any apparatus moving back and forth under the action of a pressurized liquid (oil, water, etc.) for which we must limit the stroke automatically so avoid blocking the operation of the equipment.
APPLICATION EXAMPLES
- Oil and water cylinders.
- Transmission of translational movement by a liquid.
- Pumping water out of a well or other liquid out of a barrel.
The fluid could also be compressed air.
) It goes without saying that the invention has only been described and shown by way of example, but in no way limiting, and that it is capable of various variants without departing from its scope.
Especially :
a) A single valve can be actuated mechanically, instead of 2 as shown on the plan 8660 - 449. b) The type of valves is not limiting as to the scope of the invention. c) The elastic connection between the 2 valves can be achieved by an element other than a spring, for example a synthetic rubber element or not. d) The mounting on the piston is given by way of example, such would be the case of mounting the device in the rod of the receiving piston. e) For certain applications, instead of using a link
