<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

INVENTION PATENT FOR: "Method and device for applying branded cans, in particular on slaughtered poultry." ON THE NAME OF: OE TENDER Marianne in 2940 ZEMST
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The invention comprises a method for applying branded cans to slaughtered cattle, in particular slaughtered poultry, as well as the insight which can be used for that purpose.
In the case of manual or automatic application of branded cans, devices have so far usually been used in which branded cans, provided with roll-up teeth, are supplied one after the other from a rolled strip tape where the branded cans lie one next to the other and are partly are stuck together.
The branded tin to be affixed then has to be cut off from the rest of the tape before being attached to the slaughtered poultry.
This cutting, as well as the lateral sliding of the belt over a distance of exactly the width of a brand can, places numerous demands and problems on the plier mechanism, with all the adverse consequences that entails.
On the other hand, viewed from the practical stand angle, a difficult to handle and bulky stripping roller is not ideal for a manually operated pliers.
The aim of the present invention is to propose a new method of supplying branded cans in which the device or tongs for placing the branded cans in the poultry can be made much simpler and with greater operational reliability.
The method according to the invention thus consists of stacking the branded cans on top of each other, so that they each lie separately and flat on top of each other in stacks which can then be stored in an elongated supply warehouse.
EMI2.1
installation of a device for the one after the application of the brand cans.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The invention also includes a device for processing stacked branded cans with roll-up teeth, the top can being moved by a bump towards the teeth, so that the teeth are rolled up by a curved anvil surface and embedded in the skin of the slaughtered cattle can attach.
The invention will be elucidated by the following description of an embodiment wherein reference is made to the accompanying drawings, in which: figure 1 is a perspective view of a stock or stack of brand cans according to the invention; Figure 2 is a schematic representation of an apparatus for applying branded cans from a Stack; figure 3 is a longitudinal section of a simplified version of a pliers for applying branded cans; Figure 4 is a sectional view of a detail of the baffle; Figure 5: is a left side view of another embodiment of the pliers device; figure 6: is a right side view of the pliers according to figure 5.
As shown in figure 1, the brand cans 1 lie flat on top of each other, with the teeth 2 extending in a longitudinal direction.
Preferably, the branded cans in stacks thus obtained will be joined together over a certain height or a certain number of cans with an adhesive which can for instance be applied on the outside of the stacks in the form of a Film.
Figure 2 shows a device for applying branded cans 1 from a stack as shown in Figure 1.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
This device mainly consists of an elongated magazine 3 which can receive a stack of brand cans and which is provided with a permanent pusher 4 with a preferably one-point contact or ball 5.
At the free end of the magazine 3, the brand cans are held by the nose 6 of a baffle 7; opposite the baffle 7 is an anvil 8 provided with a curved surface 9. This anvil can be fixed or movable, as will be described further in the description.
The nose of the baffle 7 is designed in such a way that a step 10 is formed corresponding to the thickness of a brand can.
When the baffle 7 is moved according to the arrow F1, a brand can will therefore shift along its longitudinal axis such that the rollable teeth 2 roll up against the curved surface 9 of the anvil 8 and consequently adhere in the skin of the slaughtered cattle.
For example, the device as shown in Figure 2 can be constructed as a hand-operated pliers (Figure 3) with two pivot rods.
One of the bars is constructed as an elongated magazine 13 and the other bar 12 is hinged at one end in 14 to the magazine 13 and at the other end is provided with a knock pin 15 which cooperates with a slot 16 provided in the rear of the bump 7.
At the free end of the magazine 13, a guide block 17 is provided in which the baffle 7 can move rectilinearly.
Opposite the baffle 7, an anvil 18 is mounted with a curved surface 9. This anvil 18 is hinged around a shaft 19 which forms part of a bracket 20.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The stack of branded cans 1 are permanently pushed towards the free end of the magazine 13 by means of a ball 21 which forms part of a rod 22 which slides telescopically into a tube and is subject to the action of a spring 24. The tube 23 is mounted on a closing piece 25 which can be locked at the closed end of the magazine 13.
When a force is exerted on the rod 12, it pivots about the axis 14 in the direction of the arrow F2 and the thrust pin 15 acts on the thrust piece 7 which moves in the longitudinal direction.
The top brand can 1 is taken along and the teeth 2 roll up against the curved shape 9 of the anvil 18. When the teeth 2 are fully rolled up
EMI5.1
the brand can 1 is attached in the skin of the slaughtered poultry.
There are two options for releasing this brand can from da pliers: - either let the rod 12 pivot back in the opposite direction of the arrow F2; - or let the rod 12 cooperate with the bracket 20, in which the anvil 18 is fixed, in such a way that it can be completely removed from the magazine 13 and the anvil
EMI5.2
18 can rotate about the axis 19 and thus release the brand can 1 when the teeth are fully rolled up.
The latter embodiment has been applied in another embodiment of the invention depicted in Figures 5 and 6.
Since the force to be exerted on the bar 12 (Figure 3) is quite great, a handle 30 is provided (Figures 5, 6) which is operated by the lever system on the bar 12 and thus reduces the treatment force.
This handle 30 can pivot about an axis 31, mounted on the magazine 13, and is provided with an arm 32
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
the end of which interacts with a recess 36 in the rod 12 by means of a pin 34.
This rod 12 can always be kept in a normal open position by the action of a spring 38.
As shown in Figure 6, a pin 40 mounted on the rod 12 can cooperate with a cam 42 forming part of the bracket 20 into which the anvil 18 can pivot.
The shape of the cam 42 is designed such that the bracket 20, at the initial stage of the displacement of the rod 12 and consequently when the teeth 2 are rolled up against the anvil 18, cannot move but as soon as the rod 1 and the baffle 7 having moved the marking can 1 a sufficient distance to fully roll up the teeth 2, the bracket 20 can pivot sideways, releasing the marking can which is adhered to the sheet.
